A time during my life when I was “Street Smart: was when I rode the public bus for the first time. My mom had told me I needed to be extra careful because some a lot of people get in and some might give me a hard time. Throughout my whole ride on the bus I kept what my mom had said in mind. After a few stops a guy got in a set next to me and he started talking to me and I was truing to ignore him as much as I could. It came to a moment where he got a little bit out of hand and started saying stuff which I was not comfortable with, so I got out of the bus and got inside a Walgreens and called my dad so he could pick me up. This was moment where I was ‘street smart’ because my mom always told me that if I feel like I’m in some type of danger,

    Howard Fast, the author of the book Freedom Road, was born on November 11, 1914 and died at the age of 89 on March 12, 2003. Fast lived a long and adventurous life.
