Strawberry Festival Analysis
The Strawberry Festival has now become an annual tradition at USD where the dining services provide free food for the students and faculty. Throughout the festival I surprised to see the amount of students that attended because they did not advertise as much as I expected them to do so I thought the students were not well informed. However, in the Student Life Pavilion (SLP) at tables they did have a small sign that advertised it as well they sent out an email to inform us however in the SLP student do not usually pay attention to the signs. Living in California from a place where there is strawberry field this type of festival does not amuse me since in a town near by they have one similar. Although I have not attended the one back home due …show more content…
Due to the amount the school advertised the game, it all depended on the school our team was going to play and the importance. For the Gonzaga game I realized that the whole student section was full meanwhile for their senior night game against Portland it only had a few students. I was pleased by the idea that finally the students demonstrated school spirit to go attend the basketball game, but they had to bribe them to go by offering free stuff and food or else they would have not attended like the other games. On the other hand, I did not like the idea of how some people were acting because I could hear fans from the opposing team talking bad about our players. Instead of telling the people to politely stop I chose to stay quiet because I did not want to start an argument with them. The difference in atmospheres from when students attend the games is better because it is not quiet throughout the whole game and people are cheering the athletes. In addition, having a crowd support you makes you want to play better so that more people will go to the games. I recognized that in the last few seconds since it was a tight game that once the fans stood up to cheer them on the athletes got excited. Therefore, my experience in the basketball games was the best when the students attended and changed the

The best part of my freshman basketball team was traveling to different location with my team. While we travel on the road, we would often sing, and dance on the bus. Coach Belford would often go over plays with the team before the games on the bus. We would look out the bus windows to look at the new environment. Me and a couple of my teammates would stretch on the bus before the games. My favorite thing to do on the bus, was to listen to music. Listening to music always hype me up before the game. It was like pregame ritual for every game I played. Sometimes we would go out to eat after the games as a team. When we win most of the time we would sing are school anthem. Think about it now my freshmen basketball road trip were the best trip I had during my high school…

It's early October on the grounds of the University of Kansas where barren trees; swaths of dormant, beige grass; and the pale, limestone buildings have created a monochromatic tableau that looks like a picture in an old, yellowed newspaper. Amongst the landscape of what could look like cathedrals lies a building that brings many students to their feet in anticipation of what will happen. Indeed, arriving for a game at Allen Fieldhouse can feel like preparing to rummage through the dusty archives of college basketball. But after a 2005 renovation, there's nothing musty about the newly developed structure. And with one of the best teams in the NCAA holding court inside, Allen Fieldhouse is all about the traditions that…

The year 1968 was a year to be remembered: a time of war and a draft, assassinations, and protests and riots about all of the above. Being a sophomore at Columbia University, James Simon Kunen exemplified lots of radical and democratic views both protesting at the university and expressing them in his first book, The Strawberry Statement: Notes of a College Revolutionary written in 1969. With all of the things that Kunen has done with his life, his first book is still perhaps his best and most moving piece.…

I went to a tailgate for the USC vs. Vanderbilt away game given by Carolina After Dark and I had a blast! I honestly did not know what to expect. I was not planning on going, but decided to meet two of my friends there right before halftime. I was pleasantly surprised. They had really cool music playing and there were people dancing everywhere. It was overall such a fun atmosphere. It took me awhile to find my friends because there were so many people. I was so surprised at how many people were there. There were no seats left near my friends so I sat on the floor next to them. They had two huge white screens that they were projecting the game onto. It was so cool when USC did something good because the whole crowd would act like they were really…

I would like to first describe the arena and atmosphere being presented. From the picture there is a lot of haze in the distance and it really appears underneath the lights. Thus, meaning that it was very hot and humid in the arena. Also, I notice the glaze of sweat appearing on each player also, meaning it was a very humid atmosphere in the arena on that historical night. From all the haze and the heat, it explains that it was shoulder to shoulder in the crowd, as the spectators watched the final shot of the season. The heat and humidity shows the importance of the game in college basketball, being the national championship. The significance of this proves that this game was a very intense, on the edge of your seat game, from all the fans producing a lot of body heat. This is what produces the haze underneath the lights, showing the importance of the game to all the viewers.…

    a. Playing men’s basketball in college was a wonderful opportunity for me on several levels. It provided an opportunity that pushed me to work harder than I have ever worked before and it challenged me, mentally and physically. Playing college basketball taught me how to work hard, even when the results may not be immediate, or visible, right away. From this experience, I learned how to compete on the daily basis, while at the same time working together with my team to push each other to become better as a unit.…

Once kids have been through a year or two in sports, they start to forget the pressure and remember the fun. There may be those times when you are at your basketball game, the score is tied and now you have to take the free throw to win the game. Some kids may feel the pressure, a lot. Back in high school I played tennis and cheered because I loved the two sports. The team members were all my good friends and fun to be around. Our team made sure we had a great time and worked hard to encourage others while playing. We took it serious, but it was not our lives. College sports are very goal oriented and extremely serious. Everyone goes to practice to improve their game to the best of their ability. Not that it is a bad thing, but I have always played a sport because I enjoyed and had fun while doing it. That alone would improve my skills naturally.…

It was blatantly obvious these city council meetings are not very well attended. I think that the presence that my friends and I had at the event was very rewarding to the council. It showed that there are students in our schools who actually care about the issues in our community and that it is in good hands for the future. We talked with mayor Ken Roth before and after the meeting. He was very gracious our presence at the meeting.…

The women's volleyball I.M games are no exception. I attended the game with a few friends in support of my social/service sorority that was playing the Pre-Veterinary Club. Other than the refs and the players we were the only ones in attendance. No crowd management was needed and the only seating available was the bottom row of seats that you could fold out, the rest of the rows were pushed into the wall. Even though the score was close and it was a good game, because of the small number of people in attendance those of us there didn’t get too loud or out of control. I have attended a men's basketball I.M. game in the past that was also had in Tully and there were more in attendance there then were at the women's volleyball game.…

When we arrived at the gymnasium everyone was so excited to get dressed and warm up on the big court. When I stepped out onto the floor I just stopped and took a look around to take it all in. I could smell the most buttery salty popcorn you could imagine lingering through the air. I could hear the sound of cheering and laughing from end to end of the court coming from all the fans. Everywhere I looked I saw the most vibrant colors of red spread out across the bleachers, fans from my hometown coming to show their support. It was so close to game time I could feel the rush going over my body, sweating heavily and anxious to get that first bucket.…

Basketball is a game I started very recently. In fact, I was hardly interested in it. The complexity of the game always made me feel like I’d never enjoy being a part of it. However, the game took me by surprise. A lot of my close friends were part of the team and they were so passionate about it. Very recently, in the beginning of 12th grade, my friends coerced me to attend practice. Waking up early morning and running to the gym was literally the worst part of my day.…
