Congratulations with your acceptance on the Programme of Advanced Strategic Management. You were accepted because your application indicated that you have already completed a course in strategic management and that your experience in business prepared you to move to the next level of complexity in the field of strategic management. We are convinced that you will find the content of this programme interesting, stimulating and challenging but most of all very valuable. The programme draws on your previous experience and/or qualifications in Strategic Management to offer you a unique programme that addresses the need for a practical, integrated course in Strategic Management at a higher level than existing offerings. This programme is offered online. This letter is the only study material you will receive in hard copy as all our future communication will be done electronically via myUnisa and e-mail. The purpose of this letter is to serve as a short orientation guide that will offer guidelines as to how to start your studies. CONTENTS OF THE PROGRAMME
The programme is offered over a year comprises four modules. These modules are listed below: COMPULSORY MODULES: Module Code PASM01J PASM02K PASM03L PASM04M Module Name Strategic Intelligence and Analysis Strategic Decision-Making Strategic Change Management Strategic Risk Management
The Programme in Advanced Strategic Management consists of 48 credits (12 per module), and is offered on Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework. You are required to complete the first two modules (PASM01J and PASM02K) as a prerequisite before you can enrol for the next two modules (PASM03L and PASM04M). For 2013, registration takes place from 26 November 2013 to 25 January 2013 and from 3 June to 12 July 2013. The University of South Africa (including the Centre for Business Management) has been accredited as an Education and Training Provider by the Council for Higher Education (CHE). Organisations can claim their education and training expenses for students registered with the Centre for Business Management from the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) in line with the Skills Development Levies Act.
WHERE TO START
In order to study effectively you need to refer to your study material including prescribed books and study guide. To commence your studies you need to acquire all your study material. This section provides guidelines on how and where to obtain your study material. 3.1 Prescribed Books
Prescribed books form part of your study material and it is important that you buy your books immediately. You must have your prescribed books in order to study and complete your assignments, so the sooner you get them the better.The textbook that you have to purchase is: • Louw, L & Venter, P. 2010.
