Purpose=The purpose of this lab was to combine reactants, which we would pick ourself, to make 2 grams of Copper Phosphate and another product.

Background:

Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the identification of the substances of which matter is composed. Chemistry has to do with many things we use today. For example, fireworks are made by the chemical combining magnesium, titanium, copper, aluminum, strontium, or other periodical elements. Things also like making plastic, jewelry, coins, etc. In this chemistry lab, you will be working with many different chemicals, calculations, equipment so it is wise to learn how to work them. For example, when completing this lab, you need to make 2 grams of a product. In this case, you need to make 2.00 grams of Copper Phosphate and in order find the grams need for each reactant, you need to use Stoichiometry. Stoichiometry is the relationship between the relative quantities of substances taking part in a reaction or forming a compound, typically a ratio of whole integers. You need to use numerous conversions, atomic weights, and mole calculations in order to get the grams of each reactant. Atomic weights are the weight of each element on the periodic table; for example, Oxygen is 16.00 grams and Carbon is 12.01 grams. Moles are a standard scientific unit for measuring large quantities of very small entities such as atoms, molecules, or other specified particles. In all Stoichiometry problems, there are 4 or 5 basic steps which are: write and balance your reaction, with some reactions with more than one value known you need to figure out which is the limiting reactant and which is the excess reactant, find the known and unknown reactant or product, find the mole ratio, set equal, cross-multiple, then find your answer.
