Stewardship: Want and Money
Stewardship God has made us all stewards of our lives. We do not become those stewards of life we are the stewards. He has made us owners of everything in our life. We own our time, money, interests, and everything else that we have a part in. I don’t think that everybody shares this view of their life. Some believe that they have no control of what happens to them and some believe that they have total control and nobody makes decisions when it comes to their lives except them. One interesting story I got from the videos was about the two that mastered their talents and doubled them. One ended up with ten and the other four, but in the end they both got the same message. Some may have more in life than others when it comes to material possessions but we all have the same amount of time. We have to take ownership of our finances and our lives but also remember that God provides the necessities but he also can take those away at any time. If we live this way and know that we are the stewards of our lives and know that God will provide what’s needed then maybe we can have a little less worry knowing that God is in control and can give and take when he feels the need to do so. The information about money and it being a tool, a test, and a testimony is completely accurate. Money truly has no value at all. We use it every day to gain material possessions that are valuable to us. These are different for every person but we all do the same. God provides us with what we need. We may not always believe that we have enough but he knows how much we truly need. I think he said it best in the video “give me too little and I will steal, give me too much and I will disown you”. We are tested every day when it comes to money and finances. Anybody that has been broke knows how much it actually takes to live. We may think that because we aren’t making as much as we would like that we are broke and can’t survive. I have had no money before and know what

The neat thing about this book is that it teaches lessons on economics from the standpoint of a Christian and the way we should handle our money and look at economics from a God centered outlook. The book starts off by talking about how God has made man to have to dominion over the earth and to be a steward of what we have here on Earth. That stewardship includes money and how we deal with it. The writer of the book warns us that we should not be totally materialistic and think that earthly materials are the end all, but he also warns that we should not pull ourselves out of the world and away from all things, and in this case money. We must realize that the material world is…

“If you don’t speak up, people will take advantage of you”(Simon 43). This quote is the best definition of what life really is. In life if you do not speak for yourself, people will push you around and take advantage of you. If you want something done right in this world, you have to do it yourself. Depending on others is what others want, but that dependency will take over your life and it will become something that is not yours anymore.…

Dr. Hickman, Luke 14:28-30 tells us, “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? “Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.” Consequently, financial security is now more important than ever to some people, and I believe that having a comfortable amount of money reduces stress. However, I will be the first to admit that sometimes I don’t calculate the cost first. Nevertheless, I have always put my faith in God and I know that he is the source of all (www.backtothebible.org). Surprisingly, there are a lot of people who…

    1. I’ve always had love/ hate relationship with money ever since I was old enough to have my own. My first experience receiving a large amount of cash was when I celebrated my First Holy Communion. Through cards filled with twenty dollar bills to checks and gifts I received a total of approximately three hundred and fifty dollars and I felt like a millionaire. At this time I was seven years old and had my very own money to spend—or so I thought. My mom didn’t allow me to spend a penny of it; instead she placed it all in a savings account that she would have control of. I was furious that I couldn’t spend the money; after all, it was MINE. Watching my cousin ride the electric scooter he bought with his Communion cash caused me to feel true envy toward another person for the very first time. My jealousy was undeniably caused by this money—the same cash that promised me joy and happiness from all the goodies I would spend it on.…

Every time I think I have grasped the concept of this statement, I come up with an even more frustrating idea. My basic understanding of this quote is that my parents had to obviously think about whether or not they wanted a child. So my parents did think about me before I was born. My more in depth understanding is that God himself had a decision committee where he stated that so and so will be born on this day. However if God did decide when I was to no longer be just a thought then he most likely also predetermined my entire life story and every path I took. Which leads me to believe that I have no control over my life and I am just a puppet being pulled by strings attached to the heavens. However, if this were true then the idea of choice would be obsolete. Since this is not the case and we do indeed have free choice before deciding upon any action, my previous theory of predetermination can't possibly be true. No matter the case I believe and hope that we all choose our own path and that God does not have a say in the…

    1. I think the importance of this story is to show haw good person is Mr. Thompson. Not many people can be so generous or kind a giving person likes him. Mr. Thompson it seems a very sharing person and I think he likes to help people and he had a very good feelings for those who is around him. Gesture that made Mr. Thompson is very plausible and I think it is a rare example for the rich people who do not love nothing else than their money.…

Anthony Robbins once said “It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” People make so many quick decisions unconsciously, whereas other decisions are lamented over. Society makes choices and creates opinions through deep mental thought which is influenced by preference, logic, feelings, and reflection. Some people may even question whether free will is a believable concept. Others believe it is all within our own power to make decisions that will lead to greater happiness. Little decisions lead to big consequences because when small and simple decisions are made, big decisions are to come, choices indicate character, and every decision made impacts other decisions.…

In my personal life I ask myself these questions when I am going through a tough situation. I often ask if we have free will to do what we want. According to David Hume, “the question of the nature of free will is the most contentious question of metaphysics. If this is correct, then figuring out what free will is will be no small task indeed. Minimally, to say that an agent has free will is to say that the agent has the capacity to choose his or her course of action.” (http://www.iep.utm.edu/freewill/). And I feel we have the free will to choose what…

My personal belief about life is we have choices, those choices determine everything that follows. If I choose to do wrong, then I must suffer the consequences, likewise, when I choose to do the right thing, I shall be rewarded. This applies to work ethics, personal and family life and of most importance, my spiritual walk. This has been my creed for years, therefore, I have disciplined myself to live accordingly. Choices relate to a cause and effect system in life. When I chose to live my life as a Christian, I also chose to adhere to a lifestyle of servanthood and self-denial which is contrary to the ways of the world. Discipling myself to not act or react to the world requires constant prayer and seeking God to master the parts in me that want to behave as the world. These disciplines include:…
