You should imagine you have a client who has asked you to prepare a briefing paper to help him/her/ them to solve their particular problems.

You are asked to use the format discussed in class i.e. a case study format. Therefore, these are the headings expected:

1. Executive Summary

2. Terms of Reference – state clearly:
• Who you are
• Who your client is
• What information does your client want – why has he/she/they consulted you

3. Overview of the situation:
What problems do you and your client envisage will need to be met.

4. Analysis of the situation:
Here you will use either a SWOT or a PEST/PESTAL or both – it’s your choice. What suites you and your client best.

5. Solutions and recommendations
You might have to give several solutions. Sometimes obvious solutions create more problems. You may need to leave your client to make the decisions as to the best solutions from those you present to him/her/them

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term advocacy is derived from the legal definition of advocate, which is defined as “a person who assists, defends, pleads, or prosecutes for another.” This legal definition is the springboard for the larger definition of nursing advocacy. Nursing advocacy has multiple roles such as communicating with, informing, and educating patients, protecting patients, speaking out for patients and building relationships (Hanks, 2013). It is common knowledge that wealthier patients have more support, both financially and practically. They are in a position to fight for the services they need, and often have the education and language skills to communicate effectively to healthcare providers (Davenport, 2012). During my life I've experienced a handful of prejudices and stereotypes for example one stereotype I encounter a lot is that all light skin people are rude and stuck up but when I'm actually kind and down to Earth I just have a natural mean face. Another stereotype I unfortunately get a lot is that I think I'm better than everyone else because I have light skin and long hair which isn't true at all I think that everyone's equal and all the same because we bleed the same blood, walk the same Earth, breath same air and we're all just human so I can't be greater than someone else. I feel that these stereotypes are just stupid and need to forgotten about because it causes your view to change about a person just by the way they look and what their skin color is.…
