Stereotypes: Pet Peeves In The Workplace
You shouldn't have to explain what a stereotype is to a five year old.. You shouldn't have to explain why someone is getting picked on just because their skin color is different. One of my greatest pet peeves is seeing people leaving a complete mess on their tables at restaurants. To me it makes me feel like that is very disrespectful to the employees, especially whenever you can easily pick it up yourself or there is a garbage near by. I’ve always been a clumsy person so it's hard for me not to make a mess. But what I learned was that it's okay to be a little messy sometimes just to make sure you clean up after yourself if allowed the opportunity. I partially blame my father for this pet peeve of mine.
As a child I always remember my father making my siblings and I clean up our mess whenever we went out to a restaurant to eat. I also remember asking my dad why we had to clean up when the employees are being paid to clean. His response was that we needed to make sure

They have to live with the fear of being deported and not knowing what will happen to their children if they do. They have learned to not speak when someone is offending them in fear that they could be deported. To me this makes me very sad. Words are so powerful and can be very hurtful if used incorrectly. Why not use them to uplift each other? In conclusion, please don't raise your child to be a bully. Let them know to embrace each other's differences. Allow them to hear different point of views from different kinds of people, but always let them know that racism and bullying of any sort is definitely unacceptable. The words you use toward someone can shape them into who they are. For example with me, I learned that I need to clean up and resturants so I won't be called names which the cleaning aspect isn't bad at all. Still you can grow tired of always being judged and hurt by others over a

Most workers who work in a clothing store or a store in general are being told to follow the minority customers around the store because they believe that all minorities steal which is not true. I am a minority and I do not steal, just because most minority steal does not mean all of them steal. “Turkeys in the Kitchen” by Dave Barry is a very well thought essay that addresses stereotypes and the past of american stereotypes. Barry explains these thoughts with humor and sarcasm but also throwing in facts. He writes about his own thoughts on stereotypes and he explains a little bit about how his thanksgivings go while talking about common stereotypes. The stereotypes discussed in the essay, and this essay, are about how women and men act in the kitchen. I agree with the stereotype talked about in his essay and I will explain the differences between men and women including their difference in cooking, sports, and empathy as mentioned in Dave Barry’s essay.…

We all have encountered some type of stereotype or prejudices. A stereotype that I had to face was age prejudice by me being so young sometimes people don't set the high expectations for you that other people would at an older age because they expect for you to make mistakes. At times my mindset isn't where most kids are at my age. I skipped pre k and I am supposed to be in the 8th grade. When I tell people my age they be like " OMG you are young to be the grade that you are in" this is a perfect example of what I am stating that people sometimes think that you have to be average and can't go over and beyond your years.…

What image do you see when you hear the word homeless? I use to think of words like dirty, lonely, and also needy. The true definition of homeless is without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. Stereotyping is a common thought through our human minds, which means oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. I learned this summer on my mission trip to Madison, Wisconsin, that homeless people are not what we think they are.…

Looking at my behavioral habits through that definition explains a lot of how I have been raised. During my childhood, cleaning and becoming more organized is everything that I really knew. Having that habit engrained into my way of living for the majority of my life, makes it hard to see me living in another way. In consideration of my analysis on my cleaning habits that were formed from my parents I would find that there is no reason to develop a plan to make or change my habit. The habit of cleaning has made me more organized and structured, which is helping me teach my children how to be clean and responsible young people. Cleanliness is close to Godliness is a saying I have always heard. TO me it means that become a clean, and organized person leads to less stress in ones life. This also help the individual to remain aware of where his or her belongings are places as well as responsibility to take care of individualistic…

In regards to Mother Nature and coming from a family of three, my parents pretty much ingrained in me that if I make a mess, I'm responsible to cleaning it up. I was also taught to use the trash receptacles and if there is none, then put it in my pocket or bag and discard later. This was also reinforced to me while I was in the military. While occupying a training area, we as military members are taught to keep the area we are occupying clean and clear of trash debris. After conducting training exercise, we are also responsible to cleaning up the area, picking up any trash that may have been left behind. As an army nurse officer, I was entrusted to ensure that the sanitary condition of the camp is enforced, such us ensuring that the field…

When I was younger I visited my mom’s job with her because she needed to pick up her pay check. She worked at a nursing home. When my mom and I first walked through the hhhuuuge entrance the first thing I noticed was the smell. It was horrible; a mix of old people, dinner, and dirty diapers. When mom left to go get her check I went to sit in the front room with some of the old women that lived there. They were all really old and had so many wrinkles it looked like someone had balled up a piece of paper, and then tried to resmooth it. One of the women offered me dinner, but I said “No, thanks”. The food looked like a meat surprise and baby food. Yuck!…
