Muhammad Aamir Javed Stereotypes Exist Because They Are Grounded In Truth Our world encompasses individuals that hold onto different ideologies, believe in different religions and belong to distinguished cultures. When these individuals present any opinion, they are likely to cluster into different groups, having separate views. These variations in thinking give birth to stereotypes. Stereotypes are common beliefs and expectations that people have developed regarding other people along the due course of time. These perceptions exist because people do not bother to learn other cultures and their beliefs. For instance, in the western countries, people believe that South Asian women are not competitive in business activities and at workplaces. Their work is restricted to taking care of their children and they do not have the abilities required for doing good jobs. It is also a popular stereotype about South Asian girls that they do not get jobs because they do not speak English. However, these stereotypes are groundless as they are filled with falsity. A survey conducted by Equal Opportunities Commission reflects “Pakistani and Bangladeshi women are more than twice as likely as white British women to be fluent in another language, as well as English”. The people of the western countries, by making these stereotypes common, have triumphed as South Asian women are denied of good jobs and are looked down upon in every aspect of life. Investigations found out that widespread stereotypes about Pakistani and Bangladeshi women make it harder for them to get a job or to get promoted. (“Promote people not stereotypes”). This might be a possibility that white people through these stereotypes want to damage South Asian women 's image and plan to suppress them morally and economically. Moreover, women in the field of sports are remarkable examples of working women.
