Stereotypes And Prejudice Essay
Stereotypes and prejudice can be seen everywhere. But what is the difference between stereotyping and prejudicing? To stereotype is to have a generalized view of a group of people. Prejudice is a negative or hostile belief which can be felt or expressed about a group or an individual in that group. Basically, pre-judging based on stereotyping. These are 2 different, but related terms that have negative effects on people and their feelings.

I think that people should not stereotype others based on a few individuals within a group. If someone is stereotyped, it means they are not recognized as an unique individual. It isn’t fair to them either, since negative stereotypes can hurt their feelings and make them feel as if they are as bad as the

If an individual listens to 1 or 2 people talk about a group in a stereotypical way, it will influence the way they think or feel about a certain group of people. If someone were to have a bad experience with just one person from a group, it isn’t fair for everyone from that group to be stereotyped and prejudiced because of one person. They might also hear news that a certain type of people have done something bad, then they will think that all the people from that group are bad.

The way to stop stereotyping and prejudicing is very simple. To get to know different people from different groups. If everyone were to meet them, it will make their understanding of that person and their group stronger. Also, if people were to think how it would feel to be stereotyped and/or prejudiced, then they will be less likely since they will know how it feels. Building stronger relations, understanding the way a person feels, and to have positive interactions with people from a group will help to reduce stereotyping and
