Theories and research into adult attachment suggests that the effects of the close emotional bond between parent and child in early life could be responsible for the bond that develops between adults in emotionally intimate relationships during adult life. In line with this, the aim of this report is to offer an overview of the history of attachment theories and the key theoretical ideas through using thematic analysis of a semi structured interview. Findings for this study come an interview with a middle-aged British woman about her own experiences in terms of relationships with parental figures during early age and how those relationships have affected her adult relationships.…
All over the world, parents decide to divorce and this leaves children hurt and confused. Because of their innocence and immaturity, children are unable to process stressful events as adults are. Their reactions and behavior can range from delicate to quick-tempered. The children may lose contact with one parent or they might decide to makes some bad decisions in their life due to the feelings of neglect. Some of the bad choices could be violence and struggling in academics. There are impacts on teens that could be short term but there are also long term effects too, because children look up to their parents as role models. Family clearly impacts teenagers, especially a divorce. Faber and Wittenborn (2010) report that on average, children in divorced families and stepfamilies, as compared to those in non-divorced families, are more likely to exhibit behavioral and emotional problems, lower social competence and self-esteem, less socially responsible behavior, and…
In examining the reasons causing the tragedy of the Ung family after the Cambodian Genocide in 1975, one can assume that these reasons include economic breakdown (continuity of the Angkar trading crops for firearms), government collapse (changes in the soldiers’ behavior towards the villagers, continuity of Khmer Rouge killing villagers at Lo Reap), and the lack of social interactions (changes in communication within the village of Lo Reap).…

In the article by Suzanne Gelb, “How to talk to children about divorce,” Gelb uses her expertise to teach parents going through divorce how to approach their children about the topic. Gelb also gives examples of how children of various ages can understand the concept of divorce. In addition, She presses upon verbal reinforcement and emotional (closeness) reinforcement to a child. Gelb seems very knowledgeable in divorce. As a person who has witness many divorces and this writer’s parents are still going through a divorce.…

The family just recently moved to my neighborhood and we casually said hi to each other. I went to their house and introduced myself and informed them of my intentions. I explained to the family that I was going to perform a family assessment and that this was about assessing the family processes and interactions and identifying both the weak and strong points in the family. I further discussed with the family that the purpose for this assessment was purely academic, confidentiality will be maintained and no diagnostic tests of any kind will be made. Permission was given before scheduling the interview and verified again prior to start. This was verbally consented and there was no need to sign any papers.…

Family teaming is a practice technique used in several states and is mandatory in twelve (Freundlich, 2010). Family teaming can occur at any point during the case planning process. There is involvement of parents and other family members in planning for the safety of the child. Family teaming can be facilitated by the caseworker of the family or by a person from an outside…
For This project we had to interview someone who has migrated to the United States from another country. I decided to interview my grandmother, Saffiya Woodard. However, if it were possible to interact with the family, the family assessment form (FAF) would be a great assessment tool. Assessing a LGBT middle adolescence youth’s bio-psycho-social is an important part of the social worker-client relationship. A dimension of the FAF that will need particular attention to when assessing LGBT middle adolescence youth would be Section D: caregiver/child interactions (Children’s Bureau of Southern California, 1997). D9 and D10 would be very important when assessing LGBT middle adolescence youth and their family. D9 views the caregiver’s ability to make desires known as well as the ability to foster the child’s understanding and communication abilities (Children’s Bureau of Southern California, 1997). D10, on the other hand, discusses the child’s verbal or nonverbal ability to communicate needs and feelings to caregivers (Children’s Bureau of Southern California, 1997).…
