Stealing Essay
Most people steal for reasons such as greed, desperation, and/or jealousy. But does that make it right? Certainly not. Stealing is very wrong for numerous amount of reasons. In life there are a lot of people that steal, whether it’s by taking your friends makeup without asking, or stealing a shirt from Walmart. No matter how or what you steal, it’s morally wrong, and you will get caught eventually. Stealing is wrong because it can make the store lose profit. It is also extremely dishonest. Stealing and getting caught ruins your reputation, and makes it really hard to get a job; nobody wants to have somebody working for them that is considered a thief. Being greedy, desperate, and jealous don’t do anything for a person’s outlook, or the way that others look at them. Having those qualities does nothing but get you into a boat load of trouble. Say you were shopping, and you had $20; but there was this really cute shirt and it was $14.97 (note that it didn’t have a monitor on it), and you felt like you wanted. it badly enough but didn’t want to only have $3 and some change left. So you took the shirt. Did you think about how that could affect the people who work at that store? No, you didn’t. You took that shirt because you were being greedy. You wanted the money, and the shirt, so you had it your way. You stealing that shirt hurt the employees of that store cause the amount of money that shirt that you took, is now coming out of each of those people’s paycheck. What about their families now? You just took $14.97 away from that single mom with two children. Not only did that affect that single mom, but it also takes money away from that company, so now they can’t replace the floors in there store, or make any advancements to the store. People have to make a living somehow. Stealing from a store not only hurts the store, but it hurts everyone who is involved with the store. Regardless of how much the item costs. Greed draws us to getting and taking free stuff. It

Everyone has their own opinion on whether shoplifting is wrong, depending on the situation, but I do not believe in situations. Shoplifting is a crime. It is illegal for a reason. There are no excuses for stealing. Sometimes life is so hard that the only way to get necessary items is to steal, but if the United States says it’s okay for people who cannot get help to steal, then it is saying that it is okay for everyone to steal.…

Larceny is “the unlawful taking of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it permanently”, defined by the Merriam - Webster dictionary. There are different levels of larceny. There is Grand Larceny which is usually defined as theft of a more significant amount of property. In the United States it is often defined as items or currency that is valued as $400 or more. In New York grand larceny applies to amounts of $1000 or more. Grand larceny is classified as a Class A felony. To bluntly say it, larceny is stealing from others. No matter what the motives or reasons behind stealing are, it is still wrong. I imagine there are a million of motives for someone to convince himself or herself that it is worth the risk to steal something. Some other people might also not have the conscience to feel wrong for stealing. A large part of this is because people do not understand who or what they are harming when they steal. Most people don’t care and only worry about their problems. Even after being caught someone might only feel bad for himself or herself.…

Plagiarism is essentially taking someone else's work or ideas and taking false credit for them. Plagiarism can have many negative consequences because it denies credit of the person who actually did the work. It is basically stealing someone’s ideas and acting as if they are your own. One can take a paper off the internet and put their name on it, taking credit of work that they did not do. If someone uses a source from online or a book and does not cite it, it is considered plagiarism. Even when one uses quotes from another source in their work but does not say where they received the information, it is also considered plagiarism. Plagiarism is looked upon as cheating and lying because the person who took the information from someone else did not actually do the work to deserve the credit.…

Shoplifting affects not only me but my family as well. I feel embarrassed and worthless yet if I felt like that. “Why did I do it in the first place?” Because shoplifting is tempting, the shoplifter thinks they’re getting the product for free. But the truth is that someone has to pay for our mistake, thus price rises and the community has to pay. And some stores could even go bankrupt because of shoplifting. It is unfair to people who do not shoplift to pay for the mistakes that shoplifters make. People in the community who are not as wealthy as others have a harder time paying for their food and needs, and when they feel they can’t afford spending too much money at a certain retail store they will have to go to another destination to shop, causing a great inconvience to them and also the retail store will be losing money and might even close down in the future. We also suffer on a personal level, when an employee who realizes an item has been stolen from their store. They often feel violated, and when they feel violated it causes them to lose trust in others. So store employee follow potential merchants, watching their every move, making potential merchants uneasy and guilty when they are innocent. As there is no ‘look’ of a shoplifter, there is no way to identify whether a person is going to shoplift or not. And thus trust is lost between the merchant and the retailer. Resulting in an uncomfortable environment to shop in.…

Have you ever been greedy? How has it affected you? In the story, Rikki-Tikki Tavi by: Rudyard Kipling, two of the characters, Nag and Nargiana are greedy. As in the story Hershel and the Hanukkah candles by: Eric Kimmel two goblins are. Also in the play A Christmas Carol by: Charles Dickens, a man named Scrooge is greedy as well. The main message in all three short stories/plays is nothing good ever comes out of being greedy. In these stories being greedy has a negative outcome for all the characters. In the stories the greedy characters think that they can just take whatever they want, they don’t need to share. However after they act on there thoughts, bad things happen. According to William Penn, “The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves” (Brainyquote.com). In the world we live in today, unfortunately, greed and jealousy is very common. It has put a damper on society today. People tend to want what others have, whether it is something materialistic or just a notion of doing something that the other person has done. Being this way makes them very greedy too. One of the worst combinations anyone can have is to be both greedy and jealous. When one is greedy, they tend to never be happy with anyone or anything in their lives because nothing good enough for them. It is a constant struggle in their lives. Most people feel unsatisfied and they feel they can never accomplish anything. A violation…

Beeping noises are definitely necessary in this generation. Without them it would be crazy to survive, since we are so used to them. Imagine how life would be without any beeping noises would be. It would definitely be a lot more peaceful, but as well as dangerous. For example, every day in the street people use their horns to honk at other cars. That’s the way we communicate if something wrong was going on. In every way I feel like life wouldn’t be the same if things were silent. Everyday day and night you hear beeping noises. For example, you hear them on television, the streets, inside buildings and phones of course. Sometimes you may hear BEEP BEEP a car honks or RING RING, when a telephone rings. There are a million beeping noises in this world and knowing the fact that they are their makes people’s life much easier and safe. We need the noises because they are a life safer. With the beeping sound knowing we know what the mean helps us be more cautious. Example, not everyone’s minds has it set on a certain time to wake up. Therefore that is where an alarm clock comes in handy. An alarm obviously makes noises so it will wake you up on an occasion. As well as fire trucks, police cars, trains, school bells, whistles, trailer trucks, elevators and much much more. Without the help of the noises each individual object makes we wouldn’t know what would be going on. Some people may not agree and say it isn’t necessary and life would be much easier and peaceful; but I strongly disagree. Hearing beeping sounds is how I live my life every day. Society wants to make it easy for us so we can have a better enjoyment and safety life.…
