Statue of Liberty and Mini Bus
Write a brief article for a website of your choice telling your readers about an interesting or unusual journey or travel experience you have had. Explain why it was memorable.

My memorable journey took place on July the 31th 2010. It was during the summer holidays when my family visited Canada to see our cousins. However, this event occurred in America, and in one of the busiest cities in the world.
We had all travelled, for the past two days, in a mini bus from Canada to America. My aunt recommended us to go to America on a tour, as we could see far more attractions than that in Canada. The bus had a very warm and pleasant mood as we had seen enjoyed our short but pleasant, trip thoroughly. From the Empire State Building to the Statue of Liberty we not only had the pleasure of seeing some of the greatest tourist attractions in the world but also spending time who began as strangers but now very close friends.
This lively feeling was short lived as my most ‘memorable moment’ happened during our journey back home. The bus was filled with cultural music and we were all eating away at the traditional American cheese burgers with fries. This peaceful and friendly atmosphere was soon disturbed by a large burst and tilting movement of the coach. We all looked on ahead with our stuffed mouths waiting upon the news of what was going on. We were informed that the tyres had burst and, in no other than one of the busiest places in the world. New York City.
As you can tell no one was terribly pleased by our instant stop in the middle of the road. With a chorus of horns and a lot of yelling the situation soon escalated to a full on traffic jam. Momentarily after the never ending chorus of horns we decided that all the men and young boys would push the stationary vehicle onto the sidewalk where they would have to repair the broken tyres.
The older men all silently groaned while we children all looked smug and happy that we were chosen to help in such a serious

I turned my head to look out of the front of the bus and was suddenly taken completely by surprise. Screaming out at me in great black lettering were the words “Canada Number One Country in the World.” My eyes lit up, my heart gave a heave, and I felt a pang of homesickness so acute I actually almost hurt. I was so excited that it was all I could do to keep myself from leaping out of my seat and grabbing the newspaper from its owner.…

All my fantastic illusions were broken. On the first day of my vocation, I was too busy finding my hotel and protecting myself that I didn’t have time to enjoy the view of this city. I had 30 more days like this ahead of me, and I wondered what I should do to get through those days. I was so anxious that I couldn’t go to sleep even though I was so tired after my sixteen hours of flight and my struggle all the way from the airport to the hotel. Auspiciously, at this time I got a message from my friend, who said that he thought what I was doing was really brave and he envied me having such an opportunity. Then I realized what I had already accomplished. I found my way from the airport to the hotel in an unfamiliar city where most people don’t speak English, without GPS or Internet. A few hours before I had thought that this was impossible. Those proved that I could go further. I realized that if I could do this, I could certainly solve any other problems during my trip.…

We were almost through the state of North Carolina as we traveled on Interstate 95. It was rush hour and you could tell everyone was antsy and excited to get home. Cars traveled at 80 miles per hour, and some were even traveling faster than that. I could now see why it was ranked the fifth worst highway in North America. Cars were weaving in and out of traffic at over 90 miles per hour. Traffic was getting heavy. Listening to the radio, my dad and I sang along to a familiar song we both knew, “Yeah” by Usher. “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!”, we both sang while he drove. My dad always loved this song, so we had the radio turned almost all the way up. The song ended and we turned the radio down. We had already been on the road for ten hours so we were beginning to get a little tired. It was almost 5:00 in the evening and we did not eat lunch, so we were both getting hungry as well. “Where do you want to stop for dinner?”, I asked him. My dad looked at the food signs next to the highway as I looked up places on my phone where we could grab a bite. Just as I was about to name off a few places where we could go, my phone flew out of my hand and my head jolted forward.…

My trip to New Orleans was a long one. The car ride there was filled with my anxiously waiting to meet the group of peers that I would be with for the next week. One warm summer day my family was frantically rushing to gather all our belongings for a week long adventure out west. We were trying our best to squeeze every item in the car; finally we were ready to depart from home. I was just fourteen years of age at the time and had never been more than a few states away. The ride there was beyond exciting, but extra long. I believe most of that was due to the anticipation of when we would finally reach the great state of Colorado.…

My heart pumping, anxiety ripping through my mind like a freight train, “I stepped on the plane . . .” “I stepped off the plane. . .” it was so quick as if so I didn’t have a second to think. As I proceeded with my trip, walking through the streets of Brooklyn meeting everyone that had a moment to spare, asking them what they recommended I see. I went to roof top bars, ate every pizza place that iconic of New York and Brooklyn, sat out on the terrace at night admiring the city’s sounds and lights. Everyday passed quick, and before I knew it I was returning home to my small town. I carried one thing with me till this day, what I saw there and experience changed me, it changed my mind about traveling and most important my outlook on life. This was the time I went to New York and felt my anxiety diminish and my mind changed and beginning to…

There were many major changes in my life since graduating from high school. First, going to college was one of the major changes that I could remember. I was one of the seven children in my family and the very first one to start college. I remembered my very first time attended college without any guidance from anyone in my family or relatives. I had no clue what college would be like when I stepped foot on campus. People I knew then kept telling me “you are a man now; you’re on your own”. Whether you succeed in your future life was totally dependent on the choices you made in college.…
