Statement Of Purpose To Become A Veterinarian
I am a senior attending Lenoir City High School. My GPA of 3.607. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a veterinarian. As a seven-year-old girl, I remember going to a friends house after school. They had many different animals of all sizes. Every day my friend and I would pretend we were veterinarians. We saved lives and set broken bones. Once a month the veterinarian would come to the farm and I would watch her assess the animals, give vaccinations, clean hoofs and any other care the animals needed. I knew then, I would be a Veterinarian. As I got older, I began researching the details of what being a veterinarian entailed. I was filled with an overwhelming energy and drive to pursue my dream. In middle school, I jumped at every …show more content…

I plan to attend Carson Newman for two years then transfer to the University of Tennessee to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian. When I received my acceptance letter from Carson Newman, my family and I were elated. The only obstacle now is paying for it. I want them to know that working hard in school and staying focused on your goals will pay off. I have received a scholarship from Carson Newman for my academic achievement. I appreciate the amount Carson Newman is able to offer me towards my college career. I have applied for this scholarship in the hopes of reaching my goal to fully pay for my college education. I am not your traditional medical school applicant. I do not have a 4.0 at a fancy big U nor have I helped helpless African children fight malaria, which is a goal of mine, but I digress. I did not make the best choices when I was younger and did not realize my full potential until the age of 21. I attended a semester at a party school when I was 18 and convinced myself school was not for me, when in fact, it was just an excuse to coast by. I never challenged myself at the awkward age 16-20 years old. I waited tables, worked in a warehouse, and did part time labor-intensive work to pay the rent and bills. I did enough just enough to get by. However, when I was 20, everything came into perspective. I was at a party having a great time with my best friend; I was in Louisiana at the time and as they say, “laissez les bon temps rouler”, translated, let the good times roll. That quickly changed. My best friend had a 5-minute long seizure, as everyone looked dumbfounded around him; I quickly took action, put him on his side and called 911. After a couple hours in the waiting room, two doctors…

Through my late teen years I envisioned living in Santa Monica, California. The warm climate, pet friendly areas, and being on my own were at the top of my list. I would be attending The Academy of Art University located in San Francisco, through online courses, majoring in fashion design. My “backup” passion would be the animal health and rescue field. I had always had a passion for animals, from showing Golden Retrievers and Netherland Dwarf rabbits, to my first official job as a feline caretaker with The Second Chance Humane Society at age thirteen. Upon entering the fashion world, I quickly discovered that I would have extreme difficulty with the stress levels due to competitiveness and the overwhelming…
