Statement Of Purpose: Rutgers
During my high school career I was never certain of the career path I would pursue, but one element remained constant, I wanted to attend Rutgers. Having lived in New Jersey my entire life, I have come to love my state, and to have such a prestigious school in my reach is truly a gift. One thing I have always had a knack for is economics, and I hope to pursue a career in it. I am sure Rutgers will aid in that pursuit along with helping me diversify my outlook on life. Rutgers offers all these elements that I find desirable in a university which will ensure my success in wherever my life leads. The economic programs that Rutgers offers are very diverse and immense. The economic classes available at Rutgers can be very hard

Portland and the beautifully wooded campus at Lewis & Clark provide the type of natural environment that inspires my initiative for environmental advocacy. I look forward to exploring the opportunities near and within Portland, including the many hiking trails. The outdoors have been an important part of my life since childhood. Looking back, some of my happiest memories are from visiting National Parks,…

Nelson Mandela once said: “An education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote profoundly reflected the attitude displayed by myself in my college selection search. I eventually narrowed my selection down to Indiana University Bloomington and Wabash College as a result of these two stellar college’s history of high scholastic achievement. While these two academic institutions share some characteristics in common, their differences in composition, academic programs, price, and credit transfer services were enough for me to chose one over the other.…

As an alumni of Stockton University, I believe I hold the drive and potential to successfully complete the endorsement graduate program. I have grown up in an education atmosphere, due to my mother being a daycare provider. She is the reason I became so passionate about working with young children, and still continues to inspire me. Leading up to my entrance into Stockton University, I completed a year at Rowan University and Atlantic Cape Community College. Up until entering the teaching program, I worked within two daycares. Through this experience I was able to work within different age ranges and continued to grow my love of working with children. Is Rutgers worth the cost? With such large and diverse campuses, Rutgers is a bit pricey. Although paying to attend may be very expensive, to me it’s a risk worth taking. Rutgers diversity along with its academic profile suggests that it is one of the top tier colleges across the nation. Also, Rutgers has so much more to offer than just academics. With 400 student groups, Division 1 athletic programs, and the state’s most extensive network of research labs, RU definitely sets the bar very high. Hopefully with a helping hand from Financial Aid, Rutgers cost will be a little less expensive so that I can cover all costs.…

Physics, calculus, biology, environmental science, computer engineering. Any utterance of these terms in an academic setting excites me. Physics was my favorite class in high school. Although challenging at times, they were challenges openly and eagerly accepted. I proceeded to take two online engineering courses to facilitate my interest and challenge myself. I received the academic awards in all of my math and science classes so far. Logic has always been an inclination of mine, with my hobby of researching and learning about forensic science.…

Before, the connotation that peace and diplomatic affairs should only be handled by world leaders and diplomats are very strong. However, as I was studying the different nursing and health concepts during my university years, realization dawned on me that health care professionals can also play a major part in peace-making, peacekeeping and peace building efforts. This belief was strengthened when I read “Peace through Health” by Arya and Santa Barbara. Given extensive and intensive training in diplomacy, mediation and conflict resolution, health workers can have unique opportunities for diplomatic work. Furthermore, I believe health care workers doing peace work can break barriers since the subject of health itself transcends individual goals even between parties divided by violence. Health according to WHO is one of the key components of human security which we all want to achieve. An adequate and equitable health care system gives humans security and this actually encourages peace. In my country, a long standing conflict between the government and rebels have caused so much mortalities and morbidities and not all are direct effects of violence. I wish to channel my efforts on lessening the peace deficits on these troubled parts of my country by leading them through health programs.…

I am presently a Senior Undergraduate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan. I am applying for the Master’s program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. The transition from being an undergraduate to being part of a research team has been a significant paradigm shift, something that I’ve come to appreciate. With this new perspective, I believe the decision to apply for a Master’s degree is appropriate to further my interests for a career in research. In particular, I want to work in the broad field of Control Systems and Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS). My interest in machines encouraged me to take up Science in high school. In the 12th grade, I designed a special bicycle which could move a short distance without having to pedal when a certain amount of force was applied to the center of gravity of the seat- the center of gravity of the bicycle. The idea won the 1st Prize in the annual Inter-School Science-Talent Competition. In 2006, I first visited Dayeh University in Taiwan, where my mother is a professor. Here I came across some interesting automotive projects in the ME department. I worked under Prof. C.C.Liang on his research aiming to design the smallest beach car in the world over the same summer. Later, even with certain practical issues like me being the only foreign student in an all Chinese class, I decided to apply for my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and learned Chinese as well in the process. Eventually I was admitted by Prof. Liang in the Impact Dynamics Lab. For the first two years I held Department Rank 1 and was offered a full scholarship for the same. The coming Fall, I transferred to National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), one of the best technological institutions in Taiwan. I was the first student to be admitted in the 3rd year (as transfers could be made only in the 2nd year, as per the university policy). Here I came across excellent…
