Statement of Purpose in Fashion Design
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Life is not easy and they say it never goes as planned, but it gets a lot easier if one has a plan and knows where one wants to be the future. “Fashion” is my passion and I plan to make it my destiny as well. Fashion according to me is a unique sense of style which everybody is born with, but few are able to express. We all recognize when we see something fashionable, but very few amongst us have that unique ability to produce something that is Fashionable or that which will catch others eyes. It is this ability that I wish to acquire and hone and sharpen with your help. I am from India, a nation with a population that exceeds one billion, where the economy is growing at one of the fastest rates in the world and where the people are just discovering that there is more to life than just food, water and shelter. I grew up hearing that clothes are a mere necessity, but I believed that Fashion is not just about “looking good”, it is about “looking great” and feeling good & confident about it. India has varied cultures, ethnicity & topography which results in a wide verity of Fashions within its borders, it is a sort of Fashion fusion with bright colors, different cuts, varied materials and different traits. India is not called a sub-continent for nothing. With a growing educated & empowered middle-class that aspires for the best in the world. India is emerging as one of the major players in the world of fashion. It is in this emerging nation that I aspire to be a globally recognized Fashion Designer with my own Brand & standing and what better way to start on that journey than being associated with you.

I am a hard working individual and my hard work shows in my education record till date. I like designing clothes and its various accessories. I am currently doing Fashion designing course and have done two projects in designing including fashion collection in domus. I am intelligent, hard working and creative and enjoy being unique. I am also

I am the perfect candidate for the Fashion Institute of technology because I am inquisitive; I am always craving more knowledge no matter what the topic - I am a leader, I enjoy coming up with fresh, new ideas and I am an intensely passionate person. Though, unlike many other FIT applicants, I haven’t always had a “passion for fashion”. Growing up, I wanted to be an Architectural engineer. It wasn’t until someone close to me gave me my first Michael Kors handbag my 8th grade year that I began to develop the passion I have now. Handling this bag was when realized my obsession with high-end fashion was only beginning. I was amazed at the production work put into making the merchandise. Of course the beauty of fashion is interesting, but what…

My love affair with fashion started years ago, but over these past 2 years it has grown into something so beautiful. Fashion made it’s grand entrance in my life when I was looking over a Chanel catalog along with a few other designers. For example; Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Phoebe Philo, and many more. The designs caught my eye and I was just mesmerized by it all. It literally took my breath away! I always told myself and my family that I will grow to be an amazing fashion designer and sell beautiful, elegant clothing known to man. A worldwide known designer.…

In The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith made the classic observation that individuals acting in their own self-interest can benefit society more than they expect to. My predilection for fashion developed since I came to Singapore at the age of 16. I still remember the gigantic poster of Prada featured Sasha Pivovarova hanging over the shopping mall, so impressive I was even though I had little knowledge about high fashion. Nowadays, my attachment to fashion becomes an obsession. There are piles of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar under my bed. I also surf on Style.com to access the free fashion updates. The TV series Mad Men leads me to appreciate the 60’s fashion style and develops a love for vintages. I believe FIT is the right place where aspiring young people pursue their dreams in the fashion world.…

Fashion has always been my favorite source of creative expression. It allows individuals to embrace their creativity in a simple but complex way. It can differentiate people from one another, and also bring them together. Fashion is different all around the world, and I am ready to explore it at The Art Institute of Atlanta. The Art Institute is perfect for me due to location, offerings, and future opportunities. As of my plans for the future, I aspire to be a Fashion Director for a company whose target market are young men and women (such as Forever21, H&M, etc). Although I have a specific career choice, many other components of fashion are intriguing to me also. I would also prefer furthering a creative career in the buying, styling, and production of fashion. I am very open to the different possibilities, and I am very confident that The Art Institute of Atlanta will guide me to make the right decision.…

Fashion is not restricted to only clothing and beauty. Fashion is an outlet in which I use to express my feelings.
