Statement of Purpose
ACADEMIC STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I grew up in a family that had a modest employment in Ecuador. Due to that, I only have studied in public institutions since my primary school in which I graduated with honors. When I was a child I usually disarmed my toys to know what was into them and use its pieces to my projects; I had discovered my interest about electric and electronics devices. I studied electronics at the “Central Tecnico” secondary school and learned the first notions about technology, my graduate coursework was about microcontrollers and once I was named the best year’s student. My undergraduate studies were done at the “Escuela Politecnica Nacional”, a prestigious academic institution in Ecuador, settling my choice in Electronics and Control Engineering.
During my undergraduate studies I found many subjects fascinating, especially power electronics and robotic structures. The logic and the creativity required to be a great programmer intrigued me, and I soon discovered I had a passion for programming microcontrollers. I designed and developed a robotic hand controlled by a sensored glove whit which I obtained the Engineer title.
I took on several jobs that would put me to the test. I did my professional training in Oleoducto Transecuatoriano for two months in automatization and control department. It was an excellent opportunity to explore several new technologies, how proposed technology solutions worked in the real world, and see the results, and strengthened my communication, presentation and teamwork skills. After that, I worked as specialized technician in variable speed drives in Biovision, an electrical contratist enterprise in oilfield.
Now, I work as instrumentation technician at generation and distribution electricity department at EP Petroecuador in the Ecuadorian Amazon. I consider that Electric Engineering is a complement to my professional career, for that reason I wanted to know more about power systems to expand my knowledge and
