Statement of Purpose
Statement of Purpose

Doctorial study is a significant milestone in the perpetual journey to education and the best exposure to this would be an eligible platform to prove the skills and knowledge that I have learnt. With due reverence to the department and the university, I pen down a "statement of purpose". This statement is an attempt to project my credentials as an aspiring researcher, my achievements as a biotechnology/biology graduate, my interest in this doctoral program and my ambitions.

My schooling and college education played a pivotal role in shaping my future. I had excellent facilities and faculty, which laid emphasis on fundamentals. This fired my interest in academics and research. I was good in my academics by being in top 5% of the school by scoring 80% in my 10th grade and 86% in my 12th grade and have also maintained in the top 5% at my undergraduate.

I am currently pursuing third semester of my Masters in biology at Western Illinois University under Dr. Richard Musser’s Lab. I have done my undergraduate from Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, an institution aided with World Bank assistance under TEQIP scheme. Having good teaching and laboratory facilities, my undergraduate college has laid primary emphasis to fundamentals both theoretical and practical on a wide range of subjects, which gave me a thorough understanding of essential features of the subjects and substantial motivations for research.

To lay down my foundation in various fields of biotechnology, I have tried to learn more by participating in various national level technical symposiums on the topics which includes “Coffee as Biofuel: good till the last drop”, “Preventing the growth of brain tumor by creating a zone of resistance”, “Plastics to Bio-plastics”, “Viral oncogenesis”, “Metastasis”.

I have worked on a two month project in the college related to Plant tissue i.e. “Callus

This course is offered to highly motivated students who wish to pursue their interests in the biological sciences. Enrollment requirements for the AP Biology course depend on policies established by each high school offering the course, but AP Biology is usually preceded by a less rigorous entry level Biology course, and sometimes by Chemistry as well. While some schools may have selective acceptance into the course, determined by academic record in prerequisite courses, other schools adhere to a policy of open enrollment, encouraging its undertaking by students that demonstrate capability for the course, though they may have performed unsatisfactorily in previous science courses.…

I wasn’t terribly sure what I wanted to do with my life, nor did I have any idea how to get where I thought I wanted to be. My relative lack of passion wasn’t seen as a deterrent in my affluent Texas town, though, as it was a place where nearly all high school students went on to college—it was the only option we really considered or that was presented to us by our families, teachers, and counselors as a post-graduation plan. So I began the requisite search by looking first at nontraditional college environments, for while I had done reasonably well at my large and impersonal public high school, nor had I flourished either. It seemed to me that if I was going to spend the next four years of my life in school, I might as well try a different tactic than the one that had allowed me to coast rather unremarkably through high school.…

My pursuit of physical therapy as a profession comes from my interest in healing the human body. Originally inspired by my grandfather, it has been my profession of choice for as long as i can remember; From a young child observing my grandfather unable to be mobile without the use of a cane, to my teenage years when I learned about the dynamics of the human body, to even more recently, after the excision of an osteochondroma on my femur during my time spent in the care of a physical therapist. <---RUN ON SENTENCE, ADJUST IT These humbling experiences have helped solidify my passion for physical therapy.…

I grew up in a family that had a modest employment in Ecuador. Due to that, I only have studied in public institutions since my primary school in which I graduated with honors. When I was a child I usually disarmed my toys to know what was into them and use its pieces to my projects; I had discovered my interest about electric and electronics devices. I studied electronics at the “Central Tecnico” secondary school and learned the first notions about technology, my graduate coursework was about microcontrollers and once I was named the best year’s student. My undergraduate studies were done at the “Escuela Politecnica Nacional”, a prestigious academic institution in Ecuador, settling my choice in Electronics and Control Engineering.…

“Time and Tide wait for no man”, this we all know. Hence, having done an inspiring four-year course in Electronics and Communication Engineering, I would like to put to use this knowledge to do my Masters in Computer Science. This would give me the leading edge in technology and the practical low-down and information I require. For this, research would be of prime importance with hands on experience in real time applications accompanied by in-depth knowledge of the subject. Technology today, means power in the widest sense of the term and not merely the power of mind. And it is this power potential that has given it the status it now enjoys. While all this is generally true, since India has been a late comer in the field of science, she has to make up an enormous leeway.…
