Starfvcker Reflection

Last week I went with my sister to see a band called Starfvcker in the _____. I chose to do my assignment on this band because I thought it would be interesting to connect their style of music, electronic indie pop, to Latino music. Although I knew it would be sort of tough connecting electronic music to folk music, I know that every type of music is related in because of the music theory that I have learned in class. In my essay, I will reflect on my experience and the connection between the two music styles. I went to the concert on a Saturday, one hour before people were allowed inside. Since Starfvcker isn’t as known, the venue was at ___ which is a small and intimate place which I prefer. I don’t like big venues because the band’s connection to the audience isn’t really there. Barro Rojo is about using the dancers and props in order to get a point across in their interpretive dance but it focuses on gender issues. The dancers were in astronaut costumes which symbol of how their music sounds spacey and they danced out their lyrics behind the band with their interpretive dance. The props they used were a moon and a starry background in order to get the sad mood just like Barro Roja usually has their lights dim in order to create a solemn mood. It showed me that in any different style of music have their own way of connecting their music to dance to enhance the story that they are telling.
