Marketing English

1) Needs to answer to meet to satisfy

2) to create

Marketing mix is composed of 4P: product, price, place, promotion.

Umbrella brand: when a famous brand commercializes other famous brands.

Icon brand: when you use the brand internationally (ex, Coca Cola : Coke, cola, coca..)

Generic brand: when the name of the brand is used locally because it is part of your local and daily environment.

Store brand: when a store commercializes his own brand because it is cheaper than a famous brand

A price should be neither to high nor to low. If it is to low, people will think that the product is in poor quality and if it is too high they will think it is too expensive.

Psychology price: it is a price just below a round figure (9,99 for example)

Marketing Strategy:

Intensive: when the product is sold in the most important store

Selective: sold in specific places according to specific criteria

Exclusive: a franchise (exclusive right).

Une égérie = celebrity endorsement is when the celebrity advertises a product.
To tarnish/to blur: ternir/abimer
Advantages: it is an opportunity for the company to use a celebrity because it can boost their sells

Brand image: for a brand
Corporate image: for a company
Public image: for a person

The role of Marketing:

It is to encourage someone to buy something.

What is marketing communication?

Marketing communication can be defined as all marketing strategies/activities that may influence the customers purchasing decisions.
These activities include both advertising and merchandising (is the way the product are displayed in a store, to attract & encourage sell & sometimes impulse buying)

On eye level: à hauteur des yeux
On eye level shelves: des étagères à haut des yeux
At end of aisles: tête de girandoles

What is a house brand or a generic product? A house brand, otherwise known as a store brand, is a proprietary brand of merchandise sold by one retailer and often bearing the name of the retailer. A house brand is usually sold at a lower price than the equivalent name brand product and can, sometimes, have packaging identical to that of the national brand. Whereas, a generic brand has no-proprietary name and can even be absence of a brand name.…

China contains large number of population. For Beijing’s Forbidden City, which is China’s top tourists attraction, as a destination of choice for both Chinese and foreign visitors, hosts millions of visitors each year. As evidence of the potential of the coffee market in China, domestic and international companies are selling high-priced reports on demand forecasts, trends, and development in the Chinese coffee market. Because the North America Market has been saturated, Starbucks continues to look farther afield for potential markets, highlighting an international focus in its mission. Chinese consumers want a Western experience. They have interest on and become excited about the environment, atmosphere and the fresh-brewed process brought by Starbucks.…

I do think that genocide is unacceptable in any shape or form. No I do not believe that Genocide can be just. I am positive that others think differently about it. One example and the most popular example used are Hitler and the Nazis. Obviously the Nazis felt that genocide is just because it was just in their philosophy. The Nazis felt like they are better than the Jewish race. They downgraded and dehumanized the Jews. In the beginning there were multiple reasons to why the Germans wanted to end the Jewish people but eventually the only reason for genocide was because of hate. Personally I think killing and murder is wrong itself. Genocide being considered just in any form is out of the question. There are some problems with the just war theory. Number one in the just war theory states that “War must be declared and waged by a legitimate authority”. Who is considered to be the “legitimate authority?” The government would be the first to call themselves “legitimate authority”. Can major groups within a nation call themselves authority? Can the people of a nation call themselves authority? If that was the case then anybody can declare war or genocide. Number two in the just war theory states that “There must be a just cause for going to war”. A government, an organization, and the people themselves can find many reasons for going to war or starting genocide. Everybody is different so everybody thinks differently about the topic. The views of man are good and evil. According to Thomas Aquinas, war must be the last resort. I cannot agree with that statement because I wish that war or genocide is never a possibility. I do think that if genocide is a possibility, then it must be the last resort. Every option should be done to avoid genocide and then if it comes to that then so be it. In my opinion, nothing can out outweigh a man’s life. The heads of governments or leaders of organizations do not seem to think the same way. The people who are calling the shots are…
