Star Apple Sap
CHAPTER I
PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
Statement of the Problem The researchers aim to know the effectiveness of using star apple sap as a correction fluid. Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is the effectiveness of using star apple sap as an alternative correction fluid in terms of its:
Smoothness
Quick Dry
Cost

2. How quick will it be dry in terms of its:
Smoothness
Water Base
Extra Coverage

3. What will be the quality in terms of its:
Smoothness
Water Base
Extra Coverage

Statement of the Hypothesis
Specifically the researchers want to find out if it is possible to create correction fluid out of star fruit sap. Generally by its:
Smoothness
Water Base
Extra Coverage

Scope and Delimitation This study wants to find out if it is possible to create correction fluid out of the sap of the star fruit. The researchers want to come up with a correction fluid in terms of its quality and if it is much cheaper and than the other correction fluids.

Significance of the Study Students nowadays are looking for a cheap school supplies to save for their budget. Correction Fluids are not just for students but also for employees. And business people want a cheap things but it has a good quality. As an answer to this problem, we thought of a research that can help to the community. Not just to ourselves but we also want to share what we know. And can sell them in a cheap price but it has a good quality product.

Approximately ten minutes into the reflux period a condensation reflux ring was visible near the top of the round-bottom flask and then progressed up the approximately one-third of the condenser column length approximately twenty minutes into the reflux. Thirty minutes into the reflux, the mixture changed to a dark purple color while it bubbled and boiled. This color remained through the extractions but was left in the boiling flask during distillation. Reflux continued for a total of 60 minutes after the reflux ring formed and took approximately ten minutes to cool down to room temperature. Then the room temperature mixture was prepared for extraction with 10mL of water but discovered to be still very acidic after one wash. To reach a neutral pH, it took three washes with Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) to remove any excess acetic acid and catalytic sulfuric acid. During distillation, the first drop was observed at 135 C and stopped at approximately 139 C when the distilling flask approached dryness. The final product was clear and colorless with a strong scent of bananas. The mass of the product was a 4.42g…

There were six sucrose solutions: 0.0 M (distilled water), 0.2 M, 0.4 M, 0.6 M, 0.8 M, and 1.0 M. The dependent variable was the mass of the cores of apple tissue. Changes in the dependent variable were measured by weighing the mass of each set of apple cores before and after its submerging in sucrose solution. The initial mass was then subtracted from the final mass and divided by the initial mass to calculate the percent change of each set. Changes in the dependent variable were analyzed in the form of percent change of mass rather than change in mass in grams because each set of apple cylinders had a different initial weight, so calculating percent change helped standardize the data. The control of the experiment was the distilled water because it has a molarity of 0.0 M, meaning that no sucrose is added to it. Several variables were held constant. It was attempted to keep the size of each core of apple tissue constant. Other constants include the ruler and scale used to measure the apple cores, as well as the knife used to cut the…

Experimental: Sodium metal was patted dry to remove any oil and was cat into small pieces. A dry 100cm3 round bottom flask was placed on a cork ring, on a balance and tarred sodium metal (0.6g) was placed into the flask. The flask was then attached to the dry reflux condenser and industrial methylated spirits (IMS, 15cm3) was added. Once all of the sodium has dissolved the solution was cooled to room temperature and the para-acetamidophenol (3.5g) was added. Ethyl iodine (3.0cm3) was slowly introduced to the mixture through the top of the condenser and the resulting in the mixture was boiled at reflux temperature for 20 minutes and was placed in a rotary evaporator to remove any excess solvent. Distilled water (40cm3) was added to the mixture and the flask was placed in ice until crystals were formed. The crude product was filtered using vacuum filtration the filtrates were washed with very little cold water and were left dry as much as possible.…

Industrial Separation Research a) Identify a mixture that is separated industrially: Olive oil b) Identify which ‘sphere’ it is obtained from: Biosphere c) Identify the industrial separation processes used on this mixture: Crushing/grinding: The olive fruit is crushed and ground by a metal hammer in a mill to make a paste. Beating: The olive fruit paste is added to water is additionally beaten to extract more oil from the olive cells. Salt can be used to assist osmotic breakdown [of the cells] and release oil Centrifuging: The mixture is poured into a horizontal centrifuge and continuously spun at high speed. The light oil forms in the upper, inner layer, and the remaining water and heavier fruit pieces form the outer layers. The light…

Method to test hypothesis: The hypothesis can be tested by first determining the amount of ascorbic acid needed to decolourize 3mL of DCPIP solution, and calculating the concentration of Vitamin C in the ascorbic acid. Next, determine the amount of fruit juice needed to decolourize 3mL of DCPIP solution, and calculating the concentration of Vitamin C in the fruit juice initially. Then, heat a few test tubes of fruit juice in a boiling water bath for different periods of time- 3min, 7min, 11min, and 15 min. The test tubes should hold amounts of fruit juice that are more than the amount of fruit juice needed to decolourize 3mL of DCPIP initially. Take out the test tubes at the designated times and calculate their concentrations. Finally, the concentrations can be compared and the trend can be shown.…
