In today’s world there are many disputes about the old and some new changes to the “Stand Your Ground” laws. Some believe that these laws are crazy and that a society like ours should not need them and that if you shot someone outside your home that it is a crime and need to be sentenced to prison some other form of punishment. And then there are those who believe that the changes have brought a better more positive side to the community and that the laws should be engorged.     Not many people choose to look at the actual statistics of deaths or injuries caused by firearms. There was a saying that I heard once, “Guns do not fire themselves, people fire guns”. Out of all the statistics, you are most likely to get killed in a car accident, than you are getting shot by an actual gun. I have stated all the facts that I have researched, now I would like to state my opinion of this topic since that is also part of an actual discussion. Reading these articles and seeing the opinions of other people has opened my eyes a bit. I personally live with two avid hunters, and not once has there been any kind of gun related accident in or around my home. I think some of these laws are quite ridiculous, and that they are mainly there to try and control people’s right to bare arms. I do not understand why gun control is a bigger issue than trying to help children who have no home or families to care for them. What the Government fails to recognize is that criminals do not abide by the laws, taking weapons away from law abiding citizen will only give the criminals more means to do harm.
