Movie Critique
Stand and Deliver is the movie I chose because I want to learn about latinos and how they are qualified in their education in America and because I want to learn about how much a person can succeed when their surroundings aren’t the safest to their life and future. I’ve seen many occasions where latino’s intelligence has been put down to the floor because of their culture, their background, and/or even the barrio they are from and aren’t given the support that they need. This doesn’t only apply to these students in Stand and Deliver but world wise. We seen it happen, we see it happening now. It only happens because of the language we speak and because of the color of
our skin. But even the discrimination that is being made just as with the students in Garfield High School stood up for themselves and proved many wrong with their hard work. There are many immigrants in
America being successful and proving that anything can be done when one is determine to be a success in life. You either sit down and don’t deliver or stand up and deliver what you have.
The lesson that can be taken out of this movie is that appearances and reputation shouldn’t matter in America because the intelligence is carried inside and inside the brain. This only shows that future generations will be more specifically criticized or pointed out for their looks. That will damage the future. Now in present day we see many teenage girls coming out pregnant. But that’s showing
