Stages Of Perseus Hero's Journey

The hero’s journey is defined as a chain of stages that all heroes are likely to go through. The story of Perseus is one of the best narratives that explain well the phases that the hero is likely to pass. The first stage according to Campbell is a call to adventure. The story of Perseus takes us back to the reign of a king known as Ancrisius, whereby the king had a beautiful girl called Danae. According to the story, prophesy from Apollo informed Ancrisius that on day Danae’s son would kill him. Therefore Danae was kept locked in a bronze tower such that she would never have children or marry. One day Danae saw a bright light through the small window and a man appeared to her with a thunderbolt in his hand. Danae knew that he was a god although she did not know which god was that. The god told her that he was a god, and wishes to make her wife.
Thus, he ordered his men to break one of the walls, entered in the room, and saw his daughter with a baby. She told her father that the baby boy name is Pereus. The king became furious and casted Danae and the baby Perseus to the sea. They got to land safe to the island of Seriphos. The fisher man pulled them out with his net to the seashore.
