St Paul the apostle originally known as Saul of Tarsus was a Jewish male who was born in Tarsus from a somewhat wealthy family. As a teenager, he traveled to Jerusalem to rediscover his Jewish roots and to learn more about Jewish laws. Paul classified himself as a Pharisee and was involved in the persecution of Christians. He was probably in his early thirties at the time to his conversion. After his conversion, he is referred to as Paul in scriptures.St Paul hated Christians. He made it his goal to capture and execute all Christians at a public trial. Paul was present when the first Christian martyr was killed
