In touch football the ball is passed between the attacking team to players that are onside, who will run or move with the ball in an attempt to gain ground, giving them a chance to score. Defending players prevent the attacking team from gaining ground by touching the ball carrier, (Touch Football Australia, 2013). The attacking team has six touches until the ball is changed to the defending team. There are six players from each team on the field at a time. The six players are split into positions that consist of two middles, two links and two wings. The middles are positioned in the centre of the field, between the two links. These players must be fit with excellent communication and ball skills. They also crease opportunities for the outside players, (SportingPulse, 2013). The next position is the link. Links are positioned between the middles and wings. They are the most deceptive runners with the best ball handling skills. They have good anticipation, acceleration and evasive skills, (SportingPulse, 2013). They also need to be able to communicate and have good spatial awareness to keep everyone aligned in defence. The last position is the wing. They are positioned on each side of the field, outside the link and near the sideline. Wings are expected to be the fastest players on their team. The wing position seems to be the easiest…

One of the most important parts of pass blocking is keeping your head out of the block. Keeping your head into a pass block could result in the defensive player whether that is linebacker or defensive lineman jerking you forward or using a move to get off the block. Another skill is keeping a wide base with your knees in slightly because you get all of your power from the inside. Pass blocking also comprises kick sliding. Kick sliding is where you kick your left or right foot back, depending on which side of the ball you are on, and sliding the other foot back, while keeping a wide base. When you are on the right side of the ball you have to kick the right foot back and vice versa. The last step to pass blocking is to keep your hands about two inches away from your chest that way you can punch the opposing side to keep them away from the…

I began playing football when I was eight years old. From the moment, I first stepped on the field for practice I knew that I loved this game. I was a little four-foot-nothing kid tackling, blocking, and learning plays all while barely being able to see out of my helmet let alone over the other players. I was always the smallest player on the team and everyone called me “squirt.” What I didn’t have in size I made up for with my speed, determination and heart. Even though I was the smallest player on the team I was quick and strong enough to play quarterback on offense and cornerback on defense. Being the fastest player on the team, I could outrun every player at practice, run seventy five plays, and still be able to go home after practice and play more football.…
