The topic of the research is the effect of sports on academic success. The hypothesis is that sports have a negative effect on your academic success since student-athletes spend so much time practicing and playing it that it becomes more important than school. This topic is being used for this research because as an athlete myself, I know what it means to manage sports and school and I know how hard it can be. I was interested to see if other student-athletes in Québec were struggling as much as I am. What this research did to find answers to those questions is we distributed 100 surveys in two CEGEPs across the province of Québec. One was French (Lionnel-Groulx) and the other was English (Vanier). We gave our survey to 75 athletes and 25 non-athletes, 50 males and 50 females. What we found in this study is that sports do have an effect on the academic success of students-athletes. Student-athletes spend more time on practicing than on homework, they miss classes and have a lower R-Score than the majority of normal, non-athletes students.

Introduction
As a student-athlete myself, I know how hard it can be to manage school and sports. When practices finish late at night and there is homework to do, it can be very hard. However, in the word student-athlete, remember that STUDENT comes before athlete, it is important to take care of your books because your sporting career can end at anytime. That is why student-athletes must have a good education in case their lifelong dream of being a professional athlete does not work. The research conducted tries to show that sports have an effect on your academic success. It shows that athletes are not the dumb student that some people believe and that even if sometimes athletes do not have grades as high as any other student, it is not because they are not trying. They are just struggling at managing their time efficiently. The way I want to show this is by conducting a survey of 100 questionnaires distributed around the province of Québec to athletes, but also non-athletes to see their sporting lifestyle and their behaviours toward school. Then, we plan to analyze these data to see if there is a difference between athletes and non-athletes and if there is evidences that student-athletes are struggling in school.

Literature Review
Research by Jim F. Couch, Kathy Lewis-Adler and Philip A. Burton named Successful Athletic Programs And Academic Achievement At High School: Substitutes Or Complements, in the Global Education Journal, states : ‘’ […] athletic participation and academic success in the classroom are correlated. […] the linkage is due to the fact that athletes enjoy a stronger identification with school’’. This article basically tells that participation in athletic activities make the athletes to commit to school and respect the values associated with educational realizations. Further, they say that athletes evolving in a great winning sport program have pride in their school, therefore they put more efforts in it.
