As we continue through the entire book we see that the actions of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth come from there deep seeded obsession for power and control. As the Bible states the love of money is the root of all evil, this I believe to be the controlling idea, let me explain. first of money in its self is a representation obviously everyone who has ever lived has not loved money because it looks cool or it feels good or its just cool to have, money is so deeply loved because of things it does for you all the things it buys such as "love" power material pleasures popularity. so when I talk about money in the verse: the love of money is the root of all evil, I mean money as power so really in Macbeth's case the love of power is the root of all his evils. Throughout the whole book we see Macbeth and lady Macbeth's actions support this as they were all horrible actions some they even admitted they didn't want to do, but because of their love for power they followed through with these horrible crimes when really the only pro to their cause was power. There was nothing else that would've come out better for them but only for that reason, they let the love for power take over. It’s an unfortunate reality not even in this fictional book, but in the world today it remains a timeless them: the love of money is the root of all evil, as we see time and again in the real world, corruption after corruption from government’s that let their love for money that buys their power cloud their decision making, contributing to their evil deeds. The controlling idea was clearly represented throughout Macbeth and unfortunately still remains a constant theme in the world

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Lord Acton’s 19th century words of wisdom were never more true than in the pages of Shakespeare's Macbeth tragedy. The corruption of power is one of the major and overarching themes of this play, Shakespeare uses charter dialogue and actions to flawlessly portray the corrupting grip that power wields. He shows just how cruel this kingdom of corruption can get. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are by far the most corrupted by power as their blood soaked pursuit of total authority clearly shows. Aggressive and abusive behavior forces the pair to the extremes, ultimately making the capricious decisions to usurp the throne by assassinating King Duncan.…

In the story, a reader can comprehend Macbeth’s greed as power that the witches gave indirectly by their prophecies. Although Macbeth did not fully believe them, he was still curious and started taking their prophecies to be factual. Three of the few prophecies that they had made were: (1) Macbeth would be king; (2) Macbeth would be king until the forest itself would march forth to siege him (3) No man or woman born would harm Macbeth. Macbeth’s death was caused by his and his wife’s poor judgments, not the witches. However, the witches did know about his death though, “He will not be commanded. Here’s another / more potent than the first” (Act IV, Scene I). Macbeth’s greed for power was the cause of many tragedies in the novel. He was responsible for the death of his cousin Duncan and also the death of his friend Banquo.…

Lady Macbeth’s greedy ways played a major role in the development of the tragedy of Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was greedy for power; she was greedy for her place on the throne. In the text, she says, “Hie thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear And chastise with the valor of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round” (1.5). In that line Lady Macbeth basically said let me talk you out of what’s preventing you from going after the crown. That line shows me that Lady Macbeth is so greedy that she wanted to talk to and persuade Macbeth into going after what he wants, which is the spot at…

The olny thing Macbeth is concerned with is power. Macbeth is the star of the play, the whole story is focused around his rise and fall from power. He, more than anyone displays the idea that people only do what they do to benefit and further themselves. Then when he becomes king, he continues to cause the deaths of those around him in fear of losing his newly acquired power. Frank Herbert once said, "Power attracts the corruptible. Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible.” In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the title character seizes “absolute power”, making him “absolutely corruptible”, which ultimately led him to his eventual death. In the play, Macbeth, the title character, seizes absolute power over his people when he brutally kills the real king to be crowned the new king of Scotland. Achieving power in this way allows him to be consumed by guilt and fear at first, which then develops into violence and the demise of both him, his wife, and ultimately his reign. Through examining the consequences that both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth face after trying to achieve power, it is clear that wrongly seizing power…

Another central idea is that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Macbeth’s taste of power as the thane of Cawdor corrupts him, and the idea that he will eventually become king makes him act immorally in order to reach his desired status. During the time of Shakespeare, kings ruled by the “Divine Rule of Law” which said that God appointed kings and kept them in power. Macbeth defying this sets nature itself out of place and is made right when he…
