Spontaneous Human Combustion
Spontaneous human combustion has been around since the 17th century, but has gained more attention after Charles Dickens wrote a book called Bleak House in 1853. In the book he killed the alcoholic junk merchant, Mr. Krook, with spontaneous human combustion. After the backlash he got, Charles defended his case by showing 30 other historical cases of spontaneous human combustion. Although his claims were weaker than he said the evidence was still there. So what is SHC? SHC is when a human bursts into flames with no outside fire source and virtually no fire damage is caused to the place where they were except for black scorch marks.
Most documented cases show that the victims are mostly overweight and alcoholics, with the majority of victims

This tragic event struck everyone by surprise, but the biggest shock was based upon how such an event occurred. After drastic studies investigators have not yet determined the source of the fire. As they had previously planned, Roy met up with Captain Stanley at a diner not usually frequented by firefighters. Both were more concerned than before as when the other crew members were asked how they thought Johnny did on his first day back, they all felt something was off. No one could really pinpoint what was different – just that Johnny seemed to distance himself from everyone and wasn’t quite the same person he was before going on disability leave. All wondered if it was due to being a victim of Chaotic Arsonist, as the media had dubbed the fire starter or something else. However, it almost seemed more than that, as if Johnny held some sort of secret.…

Warmth, heat, anger, destruction, rage, devastation, death, cleanser, survival, passion, desire, power, energy, colorful, beautiful, magical, quick-movement, flamboyant, bright. These thoughts or connotations and many others have crept into the minds of many whilst they were gazing at the lively bursts of the fire as it dances. Although, all of these connotations and many more exist, yet, the main context in which fire is used in “Barn Burning” is as a way to represent Abner’s lack of power through self-expression.…

Victims are generally unresponsive to the enviroment that surrounds them and they are immobile. They are rigid, stiff and unwilling to move. Occasionally they may have peculiar movements such as grimacing or assuming bizarre postures (Jones, Buckley & Kessler, 2006). They may repeat a phrase or word that has been spoken by somebody else and they may engage in some restless ongoing activity for no reason or desired outcome. There behaviors often revolve around restless, purposeless and sedentary behaviors and their risk of exhaustion, malnutrition and self-inflicted injury is high (Jones, Buckley & Kessler, 2006).…

The reason I decided to choose this topic, and not something about a particular part of the fire service, is because I was watching a TV show CSI where they solve crimes and such. Well this topic of fire fighter arson was on the show where a fire fighter set a fire on purpose. So I decided that it looked interesting considering it is what I want to do. Fire fighter arson is basically when a fire fighter sets a fire and I will break it down on why some fire fighters do it, affects of fire fighter arson, basic profile of the fire fighter arsonist, fire service responsibilities in preventing fire fighter arson, and actions to take when a problem is suspected.…

Alcohol abuse is rampant among the two groups with studies showing that at the age of twelve, 21% of teenagers in the minority groups are more likely to have experimented with drugs as compared to less than 10% of the teenagers in the general US population (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2011). 20% of the adults in the two minority groups require rehabilitation from drug and substance abuse, which is higher than all the other groups in America. A study done between 2002 and 2005 also shows that the use of hard drugs such as marijuana, cocaine and crystal meth were higher among these groups than in the other population in the United States (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2011). Drug abuse among these minority groups makes them more vulnerable to various diseases and health…
