Spirulina - Uses and Benefits

Spirulina is a superfood. I do not like to use the term superfood, although it could be applied to this addition. Although it is not technically an herb (actually a halsalg), it has its fair share of health-promoting properties. It is rich in chlorophyll, which plants get their energy from the sun. This allows you to increase your metabolism, lose weight naturally and simultaneously feel better. By losing weight, you can increase your metabolism, weight loss and lose weight effectively and naturally effective. Learn more in this article and learn more.

What is spirulina?
Spirulina is a natural marine algae (cyanobacteria) powder has an incredibly high in protein and a good source of antioxidants, B vitamins and other nutrients. When properly harvested from non-fought ponds and streams, it is one of the most potent sources of food available. It consists largely of protein and essential amino acids, and usually recommended that vegetarians for its high natural iron content. It is often touted for its high B-12 content, but there is a lot of debate on this particular form is a complete and absorbable form of B-12 and I do not recommend it completely instead of animal products.

I suspect that the benefits of GLA in Spirulina is even more than what studies have found since these studies often use vegetable oils for their GLA source, and other inflammatory substances in vegetable oils may interfere with the anti-inflammatory ability. It contains all the essential amino acids. GLA is hard to find a food source and typically must be created by the body. Spirulina is one of the few foods naturally GLA

Introduction: Before you consider buying an animal or pet for the first time, you should probably to some research on that animal as we did. It’s very important to know what they eat, their environment, and also what you shouldn’t do for the health and safety of your fish. For instance, our fish cannot eat regular goldfish food. We wanted to test out how the types of food effect the growth. As a control, we went for something that has no special ingredients or enriched contents for benefits but still edible for the fish. Different foods have different vitamins that help them with different things so you need to go basic to see a difference. The first fish has regular fish food pebbles, ZooNed micro floating Betta Pellets. Next we found a flakey food that was said to be “nutritionally balanced diet for optimal health, vivid color and vitality”. Tetramin Tropical Flakes was fed to the second fish. For the third fish, we couldn’t find another food with different vitamins. Instead we fed him half of the regular pellets and half of the flakey food.…

Published in the Forum of Nutrition, Leitzmann 2005 looked at the positive effects of a vegetarian diet. He stated that a growing body of scientific evidence indicates that wholesome vegetarian diets offer distinct advantages compared to diets containing meat and other foods of animal origin. The benefits arise from lower intakes of saturated fat, cholesterol and animal protein as well as higher intakes of complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, magnesium, folic acid, vitamin C and E, carotenoids and other phytochemicals. Since vegetarians consume widely divergent diets, a differentiation between various types of vegetarian diets is necessary. In the past, vegetarian diets have been described as being deficient in several nutrients including protein, iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin B12 and A, n-3 fatty acids and iodine. Numerous studies have demonstrated that the observed deficiencies are usually due to poor meal planning. Well-balanced vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including children, adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, the elderly and competitive athletes. In most cases, vegetarian diets are beneficial in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, renal disease and dementia, as well as diverticular disease, gallstones and rheumatoid…

My chosen research topic is the natural dietary supplement Spirulina. Spirulina is a simple one-celled microscopic blue-green algae with the scientific name of “Arthrospira platensis”. It is grown in tropical, high salt alkaline waters where there is strong sunlight and a pollution free environment. The algae is harvested and spray dried and presents in a powder form for further processing. By volume Spirulina has unusually high concentrations of proteins, vitamins & minerals when compared to other plant and animal based nutritional sources, for this reason Spirulina has attracted growing interest from the health and beauty industries.…

When I was growing up I was taught how to hunt, fish and trap animals for food as well as being fed an omnivorous diet, but today I have found that I no longer need animals in my diet. The Vegetarian Times recently found that out of the 311 million people in the US, 7.3 million eat a vegetarian based diet and 22.8 million eat a vegetarian inclined diet. Over the past century people have begun looking into the health implications of plant based diets as a way of improving their health and increase their longevity. This research paper is intended to inform the reader of the nutrients required by a US adult, ages 18-35, and prove that a plant based diet meets those nutrient requirements. This journey began for myself over a year ago and while continue for decades to come while plant based diets began with the birth of mankind and will continue as long as we continue to live.…

    Antioxidant Controversy

As tempting as it may sound to jump on the bandwagon, current medical findings indicates that the risks may outweigh the benefits involving supplemental antioxidants. Researchers wrote, “Our findings contradict the findings of observational studies claiming that antioxidants improve health” (McVicar, 2007, p. 1). The observational studies data stated that antioxidants were beneficial and encouraged the supplementation as an additive to anything else you would do in your life to stay healthy. As a result, antioxidant supplements have become a multi-billion dollar business.…
