The poem has a lot of images and these images show the ball where everyone is having a good time not worrying about the dust and all the negative at the time. Everyone is in their nice clothes focused solely on the positive. “My father puts on his best overalls I wear my Sunday dress, the one with the white collar, and we walk to town, to the Legion Hall and join the dance,” show the happiness in her tone and the positivity. This rivalry is over 100 yrs old. Some would say that it all started in the 1920’s when the Red Sox sold George “Babe” Ruth to the Yankees. His addition to the Yankees line up made it one if not the best in the league at that time; known as “Murderers Row” it included the likes of Lou Gehrig, Mark Koenig, Tony Lazzeri, and Earle Combs. Between both teams they have won over 30 World Series titles and over 50 AL Pennants. Both teams have made an impact on the sport especially when it comes to playing each other, their games are some of the highest viewed on TV, and anticipated of all sports. They influence the outcomes for post season play until recently, you could always count on those two teams playing each other for the AL Title and a spot in the World…

One blistering summers’ day in Northwest Florida, home for college, Jay was cleaning out the garage. This was apart of his mother’s summer clean sweep project, which she did every year. Jay comes from a family who is very involved in sports. So as he was singing the childhood clean up and going through and sorting the football pads, softballs, baseball, batting and fielding gloves, sweet bands, and other athletic equipment and sports wear he came across a recognizable object. It was his old bat. The Bat he used in little league almost 10 years ago. This was the first bat that Jay ever had. As Jay held the dusty, paint chipped, dry-rotting but yet still majestic bat in his hands, fond memories of the typical day at the ballpark began to flood his mind.…

Baseball is a game of skill that requires two teams consisting of nine players; a field, and equipment, such as gloves, bats and baseballs. To start, you will need nine willing players per team to participate. One team plays defence in the field , while the other plays offense at bat. The pitcher throws the baseball to the catcher with a offensive hitter in the batter's box trying to hit the pitched ball. Next, the umpire is the official that calls balls and strikes. A strike is a pitch thrown by the pitcher that crosses the plane of home plate between the hitters knees and letters, which is chest height. If it is within this zone, it’s a strike. If the pitch is not in this zone, it is a ball. If the hitter does not hit the pitch into the playing field before receiving three strikes, he is out.…

I came from a family of really athletic people. My Mom and sister Kaitlyn both played softball from a young age and had many great accomplishments. My sister Kassidy played soccer from a young age as well. I have a lot to live up to. I started playing soccer when I four and I played for one year until I was no longer interested in it anymore. I started softball when I was five, and it wasn’t my favorite. I then retreated back to soccer for a few years. When I was in second grade, I cut my ankle on the bowl that my dog broke when I was trying to get cereal because I was hungry. After that I really didn’t want to play soccer anymore, so I decided to retire my soccer cleats forever. After this, I tried various different ranging from swim team to softball, and as you can imagine, softball stuck. When it did though, it came with my hot-headed personality showing. There was no way around it. I was also very independent, which could be a good thing in some cases, but as I got older I was required to do more group work. I just didn’t know how to.…

It was the first game I have ever been to in my life. The game was the Baltimore Orioles VS Boston Redsox. I was of course rooting for my team the Redsox. When we got to the city of Baltimore, the only thing I could see was bright orange, black and a little bird on the hats of the people walking around. The people in Baltimore all had smiles on their face thinking they were going to win this game. I, on the other hand had red on to support my boys that I knew we were going to win.…

One of my favorite places to just sit and stare in amazement is a baseball field. There is so much to look at and take in before during, and after a baseball game. When you first walk up to a nice baseball field it takes your breath away. The freshly cut grass not only puts off a fresh, relaxing smell floating in the air, but the sight of the bright vivid green can not be compared to anything. The pattern of the mower makes the entire field look like a gigantic checker’s board. It is so perfectly cut there is not a single blade misplaced, as though is was taken out of an artist’s painting.…
