Speed Boat

Combine the joy and excitement of mechanical toys with your science project by constructing an air propelled motor boat. This is also a good way of learning about simple electric circuits. Your boat will have a battery, a switch and a motor with propeller. This can be used as a science project related to electricity, force or floatation. This idea is good for a display project, an engineering project and an experimental (investigatory) project.
The main structure is made of Styrofoam board that is available at hardware stores and home improvement stores.

Materials used in this project are: Simple Switch, Electric Motor, Battery Holder, Propeller, wire, Styrofoam cup, Popsicle stick
Procedure:
Start by cutting the foam. You can cut the Styrofoam easily with utility knives. Just practice for a few minutes and you will get the grip on it. Hold the knife in a sharp angle and don't push too much. You may need to go over the same line a few times until you get a clean cut.
Styrofoam boards can be glued using white glue or wood glue. They can also be painted using any latex paint or water based paint.
The boat that you see in the picture has a rudder we made a rudder to support the direction of the speed boat that we have made. We’ve used a Popsicle stick to have a rudder in our speed boat. But you may try different possible methods to construct a rudder in your boat. We also put some Styrofoam cup at the back of our boat with the propeller that we have so that the wind will have more force and we put some acetate to make the Styrofoam still.
* Feel free on making your own design. Just reserve a place where you can place the electric motor and secure it with tape.
Battery is a heavy piece; it must be centered in order for your boat to have a balance on water. Adjustments may be made by placing other heavy objects

All the materials you will need are very simple house hold; scissors, balloon, vinegar, baking soda, rubber band, empty bottle, clear wrap, straight pin, marker, thin piece of wood, drinking straws, and duct tape. One of the first steps is to make the rocket fuel the key component in this rocket. I began with placing ¼ or 1/3 of vinegar in a normal size bottle, after that you will make the baking soda bomb. You take a piece of clear wrap and place a good amount of baking soda in a square piece wrap up all the corners and wrap it up tight so it won’t come undone on accident, place it to the side for later use. You also need to a balloon and marker and straight pin for the next part. You will take the balloon and cut off a part where it will fit over the mouth of the bottle easily. Then take your marker and mark a spot where it is directly in the middle of the top and then use your straight pin and poke a hole in the top. Once this is all prepared lay the balloon and a rubber band over to the side separately. Once everything is ready you need to build a launcher, you can use a thin piece of wood lay on the ground at a 45 degree angle. You should attach a drinking straw on to the bottle to hold it in to place on the wood. After all is in place put the Baking soda bomb in to the bottle of vinegar and quickly put the balloon and rubber band on the bottle. Then place it on the piece of wood, you will only have a few seconds to do this entire thing so act fast. When you do this project you will need to be very careful and work fast because if you don’t watch out it will go off in your hands or worse your face. Be careful to follow it all very closely or it all could go…

As soon as the project was assigned, we each chose a part to design. We also took detailed measurements of the parts on Creo. We took measurements of the small and large tires. We took note of all the necessary parts, such as the ultrasonic, electric motor, sound sensor, and other parts that we needed to build our project with.…

In this project I also became aware of how similar paper planes and real planes are in the design you have to plan for all outside forces including wind, gravity, and the engines (or my hand in the paper planes case.) No matter what the design there's no way to plan for the outside forces involved in this experiment so you'll never get a true result every single time. All of the different aspects of engineering come into this and I was blown away and intrigued at the different dynamics that take place in this…

    Egg Car Essay Example

    * To construct my project, I first began building the protection chamber for the egg. I glued 4 or 5 sections of paper together to make it sturdy and safe. I made a flap that tucked in so that the egg could not fall out. I then glued more paper together in the shape of a box. There was a base and a lid, sort of like a Christmas present. I put straws around the metal of the axle and glued them onto 4 pieces of straws glued to together. All that was left after that was to glue the box onto the straws connecting the wheels. I then filled it with some scraps of paper so the protection chamber could not move around.…

Determination was what the sailors from “The open boat had,” with their drive into finding land and there hope into finding shore would they not give their lives into the cold heartless ocean. Days after days of seeing the ocean at its worst and days with no food could they only have hope and determination to finding land and being safe? With the captain being emotionally distraught about losing his ship he still had the strength to lead the few men he had left into unknown of the sea. The men of the open boat had a lot of trouble they had to face together with losing one of their members of the crew in the process of getting to shore, but with their faith and persistence led them to find land.…
