Speech To Pi Kappa Phi
I hope dinner was as eventful and fun as I remember it to be and more. I know this is just one letter among many that you have received during your training these past couple of months, but I hope it provides some sort of decent advice and wisdom. You’re in a unique position, being a Leadership Consultant. You have the ability to forever change a young man’s life, for better or worse. That is why very few men have had the privilege to serve Pi Kappa Phi. It carries tremendous responsibility that not every man is cut out for. You will be challenged like you have never been challenged before. You will meet amazing and interesting people and make friends in places you never thought you would even visit. You will be put in situations that your training can not solve. You will …show more content…
This evening, and the brothers you shared it with, is one of those memories. To hear encouraging words from your brothers and your family back home serves as a reminder, that while you may at times be by yourself on the road, you are never truly alone. I remember when you set yourself apart from a lot of the men I recruited during my time on staff. It was not long after meeting you, and less than a full day after you signed your bid. Vince and I were having one of our ever so popular info sessions (I think we had our highest attendance during the expansion with about 8 present). You stopped by towards the end of the presentation and we asked if you would not mind speaking on why you decided to join Pi Kappa Phi. You started to speak about being a part of something bigger than yourself and moved onto family. Then your speech accelerated and you began to make very little sense in your ramblings. However, towards the end, you slowed down and said, “Yesterday I woke up an ordinary guy. Today I woke up a PiKapp, and that is a feeling you just can’t describe”. This is the reason you were able to help lead your chapter to heights Vince and I could never

Three years in the Marine Corps JROTC program and I knew that I was going to be our next and first female cadet Commanding Officer. At the beginning of my junior year, my third year in the program, that was my goal to reach by the end of the year. I planned and worked hard for it; I took over staff meetings and took all of the responsibilities from my commanding officer at the time. One day, my senior Marine Instructor called me into his office after our drill practice and informed me of my new billet. He told me that I would, in fact, be our next cadet commanding officer due to my outstanding initiative and how well I have set myself apart from everyone else. I knew at that moment this would not be the most important accomplishment of my life,…

Hello students, faculty, and families of BFCCPS. As my classmates and I stand here before you tonight, I imagine we are all thinking very different things. Some of us are excited, others sad, and some scared. Maybe not at this moment, but at some point we have all thought about the time we have spent at BFCCPS and how our years at this unique school have changed us. Whether you arrived as a nervous kindergartener or a confident middle schooler, the opportunities we have been given, and the lessons we have learned have shaped each and every one of us into the people we are today, and more importantly, the people we will become in our futures.…

Every year the camp brought in a great group of girls. Having been chosen for officer positions and a starguider among those girls truly made it an honor. I value being highly regarded for my leadership in a place I love so much. Every year as I returned home from camp I tried to keep the same mind set as I had there, one of leadership. This is when I discovered that I did not need a title to be a leader. I could be a leader in everyday life by my…

And also, I never saw myself running home to Alpha Delta Pi. If you asked me before beginning recruitment, I would have placed myself in a completely different organization without any hesitation. It wasn’t until preference round when I realized that I was going to find myself the privilege to be a part of such an amazing group of women. The fire alarm actually went off in the middle of my preference round, causing us to have to finish our round outside on the York lawn. Even with all the craziness of relocating outside, the girl, Taylor Walters, I was talking to…

One thing people have always told me is that I remind them of the person Randall Cobb from the book game changers. He has one of the most creative and unique personalities. He is passionate for the game of basketball by working hard on his time. Randall is also talented in the subjects math and science by pushing himself to make good grades. He also thrives to help people even if it's with school work, personal problems, or on the basketball court. All in all he was almost exact the same person as I am he likes basketball, he helps others, and he does well in school.…

Throughout PFC I have learned and gained many new important factors in life whether they are new skills to lifelong friends. Being in PFC has exposed me to new ways of learning and becoming a better leader in the future. From the beginning, I have inherited new skills through the trainings conducted and last minute conflicts on the freshman days of service I have been a part of. The trainings were not just a way of torture, waking up on Saturday mornings dragging myself to work so I can sit there for four hours just to listen to someone talk and instruct us on what to do. Those trainings were another way for us all to get together, learn about each other’s qualities, and being able to deliver to the program to creating a better community for…

From a young age, my father would constantly repeat two sayings to me. The first was the saying “Be careful!” The second was a phrase that continues to resonate with me: “Be a leader, not a follower.” Throughout my life and undergraduate education, I have tried to follow this mantra for my own wellbeing but also for the wellbeing of others. My parents stressed the importance of quality leadership and cultural competency from a young age.…

As an executive officer in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, each individual is responsible for a legacy project during the school year. I was responsible for SOS Children’s Village which is a foster care neighborhood that houses children that were abused, neglected and/or abandoned. Even though this was a one-day experience, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with children as I believe that no child should be denied proper medical care and a healthy home. It is said that time goes by when you are having fun. This was true for our experience as we went four hours over time. I coordinated leadership and team building activities for the children in which both the volunteers and participants enjoyed. Who knew that in five hours’ strong bonds can be developed with a stranger that you might not encounter again.…

    * Extracurricular Activities: I’m enrolled into JROTC, which I’m highly in love with. I’m glad to know that your university has an ROTC program and that’s one of the reasons I’m highly interested. My father was a Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps and I’m just following in his footsteps. I’m very well known around my school just from JROTC. As a sophomore, I’m already a 1st LT with 23 ribbons and 15 arc pins. Freshmen look up to me, as I’ve been told. I’ve learned a lot in just one in the JROTC program. Self-discipline is now a key factor in my life and I look up to it every single day.…
