Speech Analysis
The speaker for the speech entitled Bursting the Antibacterial Bubble use very clear and vivid language. A couple of examples from the text include: “Today millions of Americans are trying to build a bubble around themselves and their families to keep out germs. The bubble is not made of plastic, however, but of billions of dollars worth of antibacterial hand wipes, tissues, soaps, and sponges.” The language included in this speech tends to be very clear cut and supported with numerous facts. The speaker does little to embellish and only uses heavily emotional words on sparse occasions. The organization of this particular speech was very thorough and included all of the necessary elements for a successful presentation. The first paragraph of the speech is very clearly the attention-getter. She gives a short synopsis of the film The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. This, in my opinion, is a fairly decent attention-getter sense a lot of people have either seen or heard of that particular movie. The following paragraph contains the topic for this speech being antibacterial soap use. The speaker then gives credibility through their own personal history of them using antibacterial soap and then includes that the speaker has researched this topic thoroughly. The preview statement is located in the 4th paragraph and stated as “I'm here to tell you that, try as we might, we cannot build a bubble between ourselves and germs with antibacterial products and that these products actually create more problems than they solve. After looking at the problems created by antibacterial products, we'll explore some solutions.” Transitions are a little harder to spot in the text. These include: “the place to begin..., There's no doubt that antibacterial products are popular with consumers, but..., First, we need federal legislation..., Second, we all need to take action..., and In conclusion...” The review is previewed with the lead in stating “In conclusion,” and then

After the film she invited her to guests on stage to talk about the issues here in this area. One of the issues that came up was the bacteria that is in Bellevue Park where the dog park is and also a Navy point by my house. Then her two guests talked about Emerald Coast keeper.org and how it can keep people in this area in touch with what is going on in their waterways around Pensacola Florida. All of Alexandria Cousteau points were valid and unbiased and up to date some of these issues were familiar to me but others were not. For example how much pollution comes out at the paper mills here in Pensacola Florida. Alexandra Cousteau language was calm and very descriptive for example, “sacrificed the environment for economy.” When she was getting her speech she was very enthusiastic because she walked back and forth on the stage. When the short film was shown the audience was more in tune to hearing what she had to say about our waterways. When she was giving the speech he also used a microphone she concluded the speech saying “thank you all for coming and I would be giving the speech if you all were not here” and commanded us to action to get…

Santiago de Chile is a speech presented from Salvador Allende to Chilean workers in Chile Coup D’état, 1973. The intended audience of the speech was Chileans who suffered in the coup d’état. Throughout the speech, Allende addressed “workers of my country”, “modest women”, and “professionals” to defend the democracy from tyranny. The purpose of the speech is encouraging Chileans to make a sound judgement in fighting against the totalitarianism army force, while defending capitalism to thrive for peace and justice. This is because throughout the speech, Allende uses phrases like “I have faith in Chile and its destiny”, “I will always be next to you”, and “long live Chile! Long live the people! Long live the workers!” as an encouragement for…

The Presidential Election of 1986 between the Republican William McKinley and Democrat William Jennings Bryan, is thought to be one of the most impressive and complicated presidential elections in all of American History. One of the major highlights of the election was William Jennings Bryan’s “Cross of Gold” speech that sparked the people’s interest for the Democratic representative. This speech not only had a firm and well defined meaning, but its delivery was also delivered superbly. The speech itself was concerned with many problems, such as growing class divisions that later were the cause of many violent outbursts among the people. Money was the most prominent concern for the people in 1896 because of high employment rates and the fact that they were recovering from a few years of depression. The…

Johnson uses several key elements of a great speech to target his audience. One of the key elements he uses are powerful metaphors and paints vivid imagery. In the speech at the University of Michigan, Johnson says several metaphors and vivid imagery. One of the first is “I have come today from the turmoil of your capital to the tranquility of you campus to speak about the future of your country.” He is making a comparison to the nation's capital to the university campus and connecting to the audience. He goes on to say, The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. This gives the Great Society a physical feature that can be felt, seen, and weighed. He is describing a solid foundation, which most believe is important for all things…

The content of her talk was overall good in my opinion. She used videos and her own personal examples to help express what she was saying. The videos she used were of Koko the gorilla, two men, and two mothers. She used these videos to help the audience understand what she means when she says “spotting a liar”. She put up two different videos of two different moms and made the audience try and pick out which one of the two was lying. This was a great idea to not only keep the audience involved but it also helped me personally understand what she was saying. When Pamela used her own personal examples they were either funny or relatable. When she talked about people not wanting to meet her for coffee that was an example of a funny one. When she talked about how much we get lied to it was crazy but, relatable. Overall the content of her talk was…

‘They were a weird mob, the Australians of 2013’ is written by Hugh Mackay and is an opinion piece that appeared in The Saturday Age on the 26th of January, 2013. It discusses the issues that are currently facing Australia and how as a nation these problems are still left unaddressed. Hugh Mackay believes that addressing these issues will improve our Australian identity and bring us closer together as a nation. He attempts to communicate with as many Australians as he can with these various issues such as asylum seekers, different school funding, global warming and tries to target those that may have a vested interest. He communicates with his wider audience in a condescending tone and presents his opinion in a satirical form by pretending to be from 50 years into the future.…
