I have a hard time really expressing how I feel and even speaking up in certain situations. Many students in school have a hard time expressing themselves, their opinions, asking questions due to the judgment of others. they might have and might even be afraid to speak up. I had a very hard time actually asking for help from my teachers when I was in middle school and in high school. This had a lot to do with me being shy and had to do with my pridemy personality such as being very shy and it had to do with my pride. I’ve had teachers in school who basically would telltold students they were stupid for asking questions in class., so tThis stopped me from asking questions andor asking for help from my teachers or staff members. Not being able to speak up in classrooms or anywhere aboutclassrooms about certain things had a lot to do with my pride also. I’ve have always been the type of person that likes to achieve and do everything on their own. I’ve never liked asking people for favors or for help of any sortany support. I never wanted to be the person who had to depend on someone for somethingothers for things. I would always try to do everything on my own at school, even if I really needed the help. help. Everyone has a freedom of speech, but others should not try to stop others from exercising their rights. A person can’t say the other is wrong or fight a person to join their side or that their side is right. A person can try to use facts and try to educate a person of their viewpoint. People are not entitled to have their viewpoints be received by people. A person does not have to agree with you on your viewpoint. You can’t change a viewpoint of another. People have their own ways of…

For example I was at Best Buy today and there was a problem with my computer. I had guarantee on it but Best Buy refused to fix my computer. Instead of accepting what they did to me, I spoke up for myself. I fought for what I thought was right and I got what I deserved. They fixed my computer and I got the money I paid for the guarantee back and had one extra year added to my guarantee—no charge. This is the kind of society we live in, so people need to learn and speak up for themselves, otherwise they will get pushed around.…

If I have an opinion on a topic that I decide to share with others or do something about, I better still be within societies wants. Just look at Winston in George Orwell’s 1984. He had his own opinion of Big Brother and when he decided to start to do something about it, the government took him and Julia away and abused them. The government in 1984 also was trying to develop Newspeak, this would be a way to eliminate specific words and phrases that target the government in a negative way. It is bad enough having an opinion or thought on something that you cannot share, and now they are taking away language to express those thoughts and opinions. If you have an out of the box opinion or view point, you are seen as crazy, you are supposed to think in line with what other members of society believe.…

A voice, no matter how small can create the biggest changes. Some of the greatest uprisings in human history have begun with one person or a small group of people simply voicing the shared opinions of the general populace. If we think back to the time of our revolutionary era, we see founding fathers such as Alexander Hamilton and Samuel Adams speaking out and writing against their unjust government. While mostly everybody agreed with the opinions of these men, the stark contrast between men like them and the people was that they were vocal about it. Had it not been for this small group of our Founding Fathers, the war may perhaps have never been started because nobody was brave enough to speak out for their…

Many times independent minds have been kept controlled by the government, for fear of losing its power. King Creon in Antigone showed this type of greed and paranoia. Determined people with strong beliefs want to create change, which is why they are not very well liked in many cases. Society should allow these people to speak their minds because society often needs…

I am able to help my peers by suggesting ways to improve on themselves by studying with me before a test or working together on homework problems. In addition to scholarship and leadership, I am very active in service activities outside of school. At my mother’s house, we volunteer for a dog organization and foster pit-bulls who are injured and in need of nurturing. I also go with the Williamstown Jazz Band to perform at elderly homes in order to cheer up the residents. Furthermore, I will gladly partake in school sponsored activities without delay. Because of my participation in extracurricular activities, my character has grown immensely over the past year. I have adapted to easily take critique and apply…

Growing up, I’ve had a hard time being socially active. I was the shy girl that everyone knew. Although being shy was my only way of being safe from others. I trusted only the people in my family. The reason for my shyness’ is: I didn’t trust people to not make fun of me, my birth father and his family didn’t like me, but I did trust my stepfather. My stepfather, has been my father since I was 3 years old, I call him dad and my birthfather I don’t call him anything since he’s never allowed to see me again. I had one friend growing up, his name was and is Seth Garner. I met him when I was 3 years old. Out of all the kids at the school, he was the only one that I could be myself around. While he was my friend, all the other kids would make fun of me to my face or behind my back. Why would they tease me? I know that I am not like other people. I know that I have a disability, but what I don’t know is why everyone had to make fun of me for it. Seth, although he was the favorite one of all the students, the popular kid, he still went out of his way to show me that I actually mattered. He taught me to say “no” or “stop” to the people hurting…
