Space Alien Narrative
dashes inside her house and when she comes back out she has a little box of Milk Duds. She offers one to me and I gratefully accept. When we finally get to the Carnival, almost all the excitement of coming here in previous years came flooding back. Lizzie squealed and took off towards the ticket booth. After she had bought more tickets than I care to say, we gazed at all the rides that were so familiar. After a long pondering, Lizzie finally decided which one to go on first. She chose the Yo Yo which made me sick afterwards because it goes around in circles while lifting you up and down. It was so much fun being able to spend a whole day with my best friend. When we were in line for the ride called Space Alien, I turned around to see the belt buckle of the tallest man I had ever seen. He had a scraggly beard and wore all black. I also recognized him as one of the men my Dad said were the Blue Willows.

After breakfast, the parents went out on the lake to have “adult time.” So my cousins and I decided to go riding back in the woods. Chelsea and I were doing wheelies on the four-wheelers. Wheelies are so fun; I get the feeling of butterflies in my stomach every time I do them. Jessica was riding her four-wheeler backwards. Johnathan was doing tricks on his dirt bike. We were doing all kinds of tricks and cool things. We even had races to see who could go the fastest. Then we found a spot in the dirt that was really wet. We saw that is was safe, so we started playing around in it. We did what most people call “mudding.” We all had a blast until Johnathan flooded his engine, and Chelsea started complaining about having mud all over her. So they decided to go home and let Jessica and I keep riding.…

As our knowledge of the universe expands, so does our imagination. Today’s science fiction movies, such as Interstellar, are based on new discoveries and research that older movies, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, did not have. However, both movies stayed true to science, etc…

“Skrt skrt!” The brand new 2003 minivan door slowly slid closed as my mom held my hand. My first day of kindergarten started walking through the rocky terrain up to Jacobson Elementary School on a hot, summer morning. Prepared with my lunch box full of goodies and plaid backpack weighing me down, I walked through the gates to the kindergarten playground. My mom helped me find the girl I met on “Meet the Teacher Night” and stayed close by as we played in the ant-infested, wood chip playground. Then suddenly, in the middle of making a wood chip pancake, the bell rang as if it was taunting me, I knew what was about to happen and so did my mother as I watched her face droop more and more as the bell rang it’s three chimes. My mom walked with me to the wall my teacher designated as the wall to line up on. My hand started to constrict around my mother’s as we approached the wall, as we got closer my knuckles began to turn white. My teacher, Mrs. Priest, announced it was time for the parents to leave.…

Straight into the beginning, Carr starts his article with a scene from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey where Dave is trying to disconnect HAL, the space robot, from its artificial brain because of the mishaps HAL made. Carr uses this scene to connect to how he can feel that the internet is reprogramming his brain negatively to think differently than how it was before. He includes how he is struggling with the negative effects of technology that he developed like poor concentration. Carr mentions that anyone can fall into training their brain into losing the capacity to focus, including him. He has difficulty focusing on reading after two or three pages and begins to look for something else to do. Carr states that the internet “is chipping…

Three million B.C. The gunpowder for a smashing evolutionary hit was amassing for a long time, but the necessary spark came from an outside help, which soon set the whole world ablaze. From this heated inferno, came the most proficient species ever to grace the planet. And now man has to be prepared for what comes next. Arthur C. Clarke skillfully proves the point that 'truth is stranger than fiction' in his remarkable book - 2001: A Space Odyssey. He also carefully examines the point that in spite of their intelligence and curious mind, humans lack the capacity to be a complete species on their own. Without the assistance of concerned alien species humans would never had climbed the evolutionary ladder. Devoid of the outside help they wouldn't had escaped their self made prison, explored the enormity of the universe and known their place in it.…

Winter was just starting in Mississippi so the sun wasn’t shining that much. But all I was glad about was that Cassie learned her place in the world, (ya know cause she's a little black girl). A couple days ago down in Strawberry Cassie bumped into me. I told her to get off the sidewalk but she wouldn’t so my daddy had to step in and push her off. But when her grandmother comes she makes her apologize to me. It felt good when she said Miz Lillian Jean instead of just Lillian Jean. Me, Cassie and my little brother Jeremy were walking home on sunny day and Cassie was carrying my book down on past the railroad tracks. As we walking up towards the bank Cassie tells me she’s got a little gift for me. So we…

“Mom, can we go to the toy store, please?” he asked in his sweetest voice as we drove down Main Street, and I couldn’t help but oblige. As we pulled into the lot of Harry’s Emporium of Toys, we crashed into a car speeding down the street that I could swear was coming right for us. When I awoke again, I found the tiniest stuffed bear cradled in my arms, then fell asleep still hugging the bear.…

“Ugh!”, he grunts from how large the suitcase is. “Will you be able to carry that, Scottie?” she says, her face, worn from time, twists with concern for her son. “Of course”, he laughs. “Okay, if you’re sure.” She says as she opens the metal gate to the front yard. They slowly walk through the cracked pathway until they reach the steps to the porch. Beatrice opens the sturdy door with her keys. “Honey, I’m home!” Scottie yells into the empty living room. “Must you do that every time you come inside the house?” She says fondly. “Of course, I must.” He says as if she should already have known the answer. While they were talking, Alice and Jake, Scottie’s younger siblings, heard his announcement and excitedly ran out of their room and down the beige stairs. “Stop making all that racket!” she admonishes her children. “SCOTTIE!” they yell out enthusiastically. “You’re home!” Alice states, full of wonder that her big older brother is finally back where he belongs. “Well, it’s obvious that I’m home unless I’m an imposer who’s secretly an alien”, He jokes, winking at Alice. “I definitely didn’t miss your humor,” Jake lightheartedly says. “Oh, come on, I tell the best jokes”, Scottie says smiling. “Yeah right, in your dreams”, Jake jokingly teases. “Leave your brother alone for right now. He had a long trip and he’s probably exhausted.” Beatrice gently tells to her…

For twelve years I got to see everything she did. We went to Disneyland once! It was awesome! My favorite ride was Splash Mountain. First, we went into the boat thing. Markie was in front of us and Randall behind us. They are her brothers. We creaked up the slope and turned left. We went to the right and through a short tunnel. Small figures were everywhere, as we slowly went up a steep hill. When we got to the top water was all over the place. I had wondered why. KA-BOOM!!!!!!! We were going down the biggest hill ever! Water was getting in my hair. Markie, Lisa, and Randall were screaming at the top of their lungs. Thirty feet, twenty feet ten feet, SPLASH!!!! I got so wet, that I wouldn’t have to take bath for a month! The water was up to Lisa’s feet in the boat. It was slow for the rest of the ride, but there was a lot of chatter going on, but mom ands dad looked scared. “Want to go on It’s a small world?” asked Helen. Melvin just nodded.…
