Sophomore Day In High School Essay
It wasn’t too long before I realized that high school was not just a walk in the park as I anticipated and to be extra serious than what I was. Sophomore year is when I figured this all out and in my Junior year is when I flipped the script. Now I'm striving, working, and improving on my learning to graduate. In my sophomore I wasn’t doing so sound, in I would say the majority of my classes I did fail 2 of my classes when honestly it shouldn’t have happened. The two classes I didn’t pass were English and History. I only didn’t pass these two since I just didn’t proceed to see I should have been more serious and honestly, I was lazy thinking that it was such a breeze that I could just soar through these classes. I occasionally wouldn't ask my …show more content…
This did open my eyes enormous I wasn’t craving to do this and attempt to do all this again and suddenly next year I proved it to myself. In all of my classes I never once worried about what I did last year. I passed every class with either an A or a B I was on top of everything even with the extra work and I passed those two classes I needed to accomplish so I caught up on everything. In this situation, I could have easily taken the effortless way out and just diminished my hopes of graduating and said whatever, but I chose to put up with the struggle and do what I should have done. From that, now I endure in all of my classwork and outside of school work. During all of this I realized that I couldn't do what I did so now I’m working and working doing everything I can to pull off marvelous grades and never worry about getting behind. I’m gratified that I learned this life lesson the tough way and chose that appropriate path it just made myself realize also that life is not a walk in the park and you need to live and

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

As I got older and got into high school, things got really ugly my freshman year. Hanging out with the wrong crowd changed my whole perspective on school and how I should apply my knowledge to school work. I can honestly say that my highest grade was probably a C out of the whole year. The beginning of my life changing didn’t take place till my sophomore year when I met my older cousin who decided to be hard on me in school. Part of that was him keeping me into football and other sports he thought I would be good in. It wasn’t till junior year in high school where I really took football…

I joined a fraternity the following year. After joining the fraternity I put even less thought into my future and I just wanted ti enjoy my college years and worry about it later on. Around the same time I was going through a rebellious teen phase at home with my mom and that proved too stressful all together. I slacked even more and, failed a class one semester. I would go to class and did just enough to get by without caring for the consequences. Well it all hit me at once my 4th year. I was already behind on credits and had to seriously think about my future. I looked at the summary of the past few years and I became extremely disappointed in myself for wasting so much time and not taking my education serious. I told myself that this is not how I wanted to live my life anymore. I took a step back during the summer vacation to reevaluate my actions and my life and try to change my priorities to get back on track. After doing a lot of thinking I changed a lot. I decided that I wanted to go back to school and get a restart on my grades and my college education but in a different major. As a consequence I would be in school for much longer but if in the end I would study what makes me happy and I would be more content…

[anecdote]Before I entered High School, ever since I was small I already new what my future path was going to be, but without knowing I would need to take two classes I knew myself was not good such as psychology and calculus. My High school experience was entertaining and preparatory. I looked beyond my homework assignment and got great advice from teachers, although did not seek advice from counselors regarding how life was outside of high school. On the other hand, I left with the most knowledge on how to pursue in college. I had some low and high grades such as math was very distressed course. However, I was confident that if I took some easy college classes, everything will sink into place by the end of the…

In other words they are still too young to have the experience to recognize them. Last year I dealt with the challenge of re-evaluating my major of what I thought I wanted to do as a career. There is only a history of this controversy as long as video games have been around, but shorter than that because in videogames early years there were almost no violence in most of the games. Like pong for example you would only hit a ball back and forth, sounds boring right but in actuality it were so popular in its day then something better replaced it (glazer, 2). A never ending sequence where video games will only advance as time goes on. This is an arguable issue because of the belief that video games are bad for you but, there was and is no proof that video games are bad for you. This has been an issue for about as long as the N64 has been around.…

School always came first, without a doubt. But, I let the move get to me. I let change get to me, and that shouldn’t have been the case.Doing my best is what I should have kept doing, but that wasn’t what happened.. My uncle is the person that made me realize that. He’d always call to check up on me, making sure I was doing the best that I could without any excuses. He called one day and asked how I was doing in my new school, and I told him the truth. His response was nothing I was prepared for. I was used to him telling me how proud he was of me, and that I’m going to set out to be the greatest at what I want to become. But, this phone conversation was not anything I thought it would be.He said, “Even though I hoped this wouldn't happen, I knew it would.” What did that even mean? Did it mean he was rooting for my failure? That talk sparked something in me. It reignited my passion for success. I started to get my act together and refocus on my grades, and what I wanted in life. Slowly my grades started improving, with each semester slightly getting…

“You’ll never make it,” they all said, my boyfriend, family, teachers, and friends. It was like my life was already figured out for me, as if I didn’t have a say. The message was loud and clear. They all expected me to fail, to settle for a minimum wage paying job, to settle for just a high school diploma. For a while I went around believing that all I could do was the minimum required. But then I realized that I was capable of doing so much more. As time went on I realized that I did not have to live up to other’s low expectations and I started making a name for myself. I knew that studying a little harder for every test, joining clubs, volunteering, and running for leadership positions would later pay off.…

Everyone in life will have their own personal obstacles they will have to face in life. Some people will mentally shut down and give up when faced with a challenge. Others will take their challenges and use them to better themselves. The obstacles that I have faced in my life have never hit me harder than they have these past few months. This being my senior year, I always expected it to be the most laid back and relaxing year of my high school career. When in fact I set myself up for one of the biggest challenges of my life so far, by signing up for multiple online college classes, helping out with activities all over the school, and playing football for the first time since freshman year. Although, under all this immense pressure, this is where my true colors came out. I didn’t stop working to my full potential,…

I set a goal for myself, which was to improve my overall GPA each quarter. Slowly, but surely, I was getting better grades and boosting my GPA. Junior year was my best year academically. I set more academic goals for myself. I stayed on top of my work and in the end it paid off because I was able to exceed my goal. My GPA has increased vastly since the start of freshman year, but I silently thought to myself: “If I’ve made it this far academically, why not end high school with an even greater GPA?” I know I have the potential to increase my cumulative GPA to a 3.5, and I am currently striving to achieve this goal with high hopes. I learned very valuable lessons throughout my journey of high school. Not all mistakes made are necessarily bad. Many life lessons come from the mistakes we make. If you fall, get back up on your feet and go the extra mile because it will help you in the end to get to where you want to go. I now know why my parents and teachers instilled in me the concept of learning from your own mistakes. My mistake was taking freshman year lightly. Although it is too late to go back and redo the start of freshman year, all I can do is continue to put time and effort into my school work. I intend to focus on a smooth transition from high school into college, setting analogous goals for myself.…

One of my more enriching experiences occurred during my freshman year of high school. For years, I strove for straight A's, and for years I received them. Over time I constructed a mentality, and underlying self-confidence that I would receive an A no matter what. Due to my over-confidence, I was under the impression that I would not have to put forth much effort; however, near the conclusion of the second semester, I had a B in Pre-AP English 9. Despite my last push to earn a 90% in the class with the concluding assignments of the semester, my grade was finalized lower than I had wished for. It felt as if a five pound ball of lead materialized in the pit of my stomach. This experience, at first, devastated me to the fullest extent, and I…

I think that I challenged myself to receive good grades, and that I have done so this semester. I am eager to find out new or different things that I have some knowledge about, but I was amazed at the things I thought were right with counseling issues that I was completely wrong about. I am sure that I still have a long way to go, and many new things to learn. I feel that I was entirely invested in this class and all the assignments that were given to me. I wasn’t late on any assignments and many times had the assignment finished before it was due. I read each chapter carefully and was interested in each new thing that I found. I always want to do my very best in each class that I take. I returned back to college when I was 40 years old. This was something that I had dreamed of for many years, but was afraid to try it. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to school. I am glad that I made this decision even if it was many years after I should have done it.…

However, I feel I should have taken my high school English class more seriously. The teacher graded rather leniently, which attributed to my lack of effort. The amount of work required to get an "A" paper in my high school was about equivalent to the work required to get a "C" paper here at Rio Hondo It was a very difficult adjustment for me. I went through high school writing what I now know to be not-so-good papers, but received good grades for them. Then, I thought they were good because of the grades I got. Now, I find myself working over twice as hard for my grade. Even though it’s being difficult because I have not being in school setting for many years, At times I have gone sleep late and study much hard. The when I was In high school.…
