SOP graduate in Civil Engineering
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
“Sri Mokshagundam Visweswaraiah”, who is the first and pre-eminent engineer of India, recipient of Indian Republic’s highest civil honor “Bharat Ratna” is my role model. Indian government officially celebrates his birthday as “ENGINEER’S DAY” in his remembrance. His achievements have motivated me to become a Civil Engineer from my childhood.
My under graduate and graduate background, and work experience have given me the confidence and desire to continue my formal education. I will present a brief history of my academic and professional background as they relate to my application to the program. After a good performance in High School and Intermediate level with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as majors, I secured an admission to Civil Engineering Undergraduate course at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (Affiliated to JNTU Hyderabad) and carried on to Master’s in civil engineering with a specialization of Geotechnical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT, Warangal).
Inspired by my father an entrepreneur, I followed and chose the same stream. My fascination with gravity-defying, innovative construction led me to my vocation. The world of civil engineering beckoned and I enrolled at VNR VJIET for undergraduate study.
After four years of undergraduate study in Civil Engineering and two years of graduation of Master’s in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering, I feel completely satisfied with my decision to choose engineering as my career option as it has revealed most pragmatic and down-to-earth approach in tackling human problems. My enthusiasm coupled with scope for innovations and opportunities available in the civil engineering has motivated me to opt for higher studies and contribute to the field through meaningful research.
I armed myself with the knowledge of basic geotechnical engineering in “Geotechnical Engineering I” & “II” at the under graduate

I had the pleasure of interviewing Bob Appleton, a civil engineer at Texas A&M. The questions I asked him that taught me the most about civil engineering were “What is your daily job as a civil engineer?” and “What are the personal qualities you need to be a civil engineer? For example, motivation, etc.” Mr. Appleton said as a civil engineer, your daily job is to take data that surveyors collected in the field, either on the the ground or by aerial photographs (which he explained as being similar to images seen on Google Earth). Then you use the data to create drawings and designs for many different structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, ports, etc. Mr. Appleton said that to be a civil engineer you need to possess the qualities of integrity…

I decided to pursue civil engineering because, I can easily solve problems and can think outside of box. Civil engineering requires the ability to use physics and problem solving in real life situations. These are things that come easily to me and I enjoy doing them. I have chosen to attend NAIT because it offers one of the best programs for engineering in Alberta and the classes are not as large as other colleges. I am going to accomplish my goal by first taking all of my required classes in high school. To even enroll into NAIT’s engineering program I must have taken and passed Math 30-1, Physics 30, and Grade 12 english and have passed with 75% overall grade. To prepare for my transition from high school to college, I will work during…

VTU, Belgaum (Visvesvaraya Technological University) is the most prominent term in the context of Engineering Education in Karnataka because it is the lone University in the same area. VTU has forcibility become a dominant term even in minds of intellectuals in our state, irrespective of the fact whether you like it or not. The overall standard of engineering education in Karnataka partially depends on the standards set by the VTU ‘people’. I am not making any statements regarding the standards of our university in this essay.…

    My Dream Job

By the graduation I realized that there were not too many choices in my home town, just two to be correct – to continue my education in either pedagogical or technical university. My parents were busy working full time providing for the family and we never discussed seriously the possibility of me going to another city because it would create many financial and organizational problems. Being the youngest daughter and living with my parents all my life I did not insist. So, since I never wanted to be a teacher I picked a technical field of study. My father was an Electronic Engineer and I, having no clear plans and directions, thought it was not bad idea to become an engineer. I read an advertisement about civil engineering and it sounded good to me.…

In a world that is continually growing, evolving and problems such as global warming and population growth becoming ever more real, the need for innovation and fresh ideas from the engineering world becomes increasingly evident. It is this that attracts me to architectural engineering as a career because although I am aware of the many pressures and demands I would be facing, the sense of achievement and the knowledge that I would be making a difference to the lives of others would be of great personal reward to me. This interest was then nurtured during my schooling and college years at school learning about the history of art and how the smallest engineering discoveries led to the biggest architectural breakthroughs, for instance the impact that the arch, concrete and the dome had on Ancient Roman and proceeding architecture.…
