HHD 3rd Platoon Weapons Maintenance SOP
AFD-Q6FG 10-0013

Effective Date 29 October 2013

1. PURPOSE: To address the clearing, disassembling, cleaning, inspection for serviceability, lubricating and reassembling of the M4 or M4A1 carbine.

2. APPLICABILITY: 3rd Platoon, HHD 53rd Transportation BN.

3. REFERENCES: Lubricate Order (LO); STP 21-1-SMCT; TM 9-1005-319-10; DA Form 2404 Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES: You are to complete three copies of DA Form 2404 for each M4 or M4A1 carbine. Turn in one copy to the armorer, keep one copy for yourself and give a copy to your platoon sergeant.

5. PROCEDURES: Perform weapons maintenance in accordance with referenced materials and record DA Form 2404.

6. SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS: The arms room is open daily from 0900 hrs to 1630 hrs.

Maintain an M16 Series Rifle/M4 Series Rifle Carbine
WARNING
Do not squeeze the trigger until the weapon has been cleared. Inspect the chamber to ensure that it is empty and no ammunition is in position to be chambered.
Failure to do so may lead to death or serius injury.
Conditions:
Given an M16 series rifle or M4 series carbine, a magazine, 5.56 ammunition, and small-arms accessory case with the following cleaning materials: clean wiping rags, bore brush, chamber brush, toothbrush, cleaning rod, small-arms patches, pipe cleaners, rifle bore cleaner (RBC), and cleaner, lubricant, and preservative
(CLP).
