Sook Choi's Year of Impossible Goodbyes: A Summary
4.In this story, the sight and hearing creat the most reader suspense

5.This novel narrated in the 1st person. I think this is an effective form of narration in this novel. This allows the reader to see the point of view (including opinions, thoughts, and feelings) only of the narrator, and no other characters. The Sookan's story revolves around herself as the protagonist and allows her inner thoughts to be conveyed openly to the audience, even if not to any of the other characters. First person narratives also have a much easier time garnering empathy from your audience, since they end up spending so much time in your character's brain. It more easily fleshes a character on the page by allowing the audience to listen to their voice for long periods of time. In some ways, a first person narrator can more easily "dump" information on the reader. For example,in this novel, the narrator is the first person and she is the main character as well. The reason why the author set a ten-year-old girl as the narrator is that child is more pure that makes the story more believable and the readers may give more pity to the main character. It also can show the growth of the protagonist much better in order to teach the readers more truthes of the life.

6.In my opinion, this novel is suited and interesting for teens.Firstly, the narrator and the main character is a 10-year-old girl whose age is close to the teens, which can resonate teens and attract them by something in common. For example, the teen readers may have the same experience or thoughts when they meet the same events.Secondly, the setting of this novel is based on the war, family and communist, and most of the teens in the 21st century never suffer the war so setting the war as one of the settings is a good way to attact their attention.Family can remind them of their family members and family is the most important thing to the teens because they depend on their family and care about their family afferction.Politics is

In the memoir, Year Of Impossible Goodbyes, Sookan changes from someone who is dependent on others and becomes someone who is independent and responsible. This change is seen in three moments. When Grandfather dies, Sookan has to take part of the place of Mother. Sookan has to do more work on her own and help Inchun, too. "Sitting on the ground by the tree stump, we sorted, folded, and then packed into bundles of twelve, or 'tah,' the pile of ugly green socks that Aunt Tiger put out for us in the morning"(Choi 49). Sookan is doing the work with Inchun but she has to be the adult. There are no adults watching them, which it sounds like they've pretty much always had an adult around. When the Russian soldiers came, the whole family stayed inside…

Throughout the book, Year of Impossible Goodbyes Spokane had a few key moments when she changed while being faced with the following situations. She clapped and cheered when a Korean boy spoke up against the Japanese, she distrusted the guide they had hired to take them across the border, and while escaping across the border she almost sacrificed herself so Inchun could be free. In these key moments of the book Sookan changed, maybe not for the better but it helped create her and keep her alive.…

Sookan changes many ways in Year of Impossible Goodbyes. There was three events that made her grow angrier and angrier at the Japanese soldiers: when the Japanese soldiers cut down grandfather’s tree, when her grandfather died, and when Captain Narita took the sock girls away. Sookan and her family had a celebration for Haiwon's 16th birthday. They were all having fun, but then captain Narita and two lieutenants unexpectedly walked through the gate. Sookan was having so much fun that she forgot about the imperial police. Captain Narita yelled at mother, stared at grandfather, and then left quietly. Mother thought he was up to something because he left so quietly. Two Korean soldiers came back later to cut down grandfathers tree. After they cut it…

Your novel speak conveys the thoughts of a speechless young girl named Melinda. You convey the feelings and emotions of her in a way that everyone can relate in some way or form.I wonder what convinced you to write this book? What made you want to convey the true inner emotions of all adolescents? I feel like you did something most authors can not do , and that is allowing the audience to decide their own theme and their own way to look at your novel. You put out there the deepest feelings of the common teen and allowed many to feel melinda's pain and help us learn from her mistake. Flirting between teens is common and healthy. But, some teens have trouble knowing the difference between respectful behavior and unwanted attention. Sexual…

In conclusion, I would recommend the novel ‘Specky Magee and the season of champions’ to all teenagers as it is a good book to read that most people can relate to. The authors Garry Lyon and Felice Arena used characterization to portray the different types of teens and they used real themes and issues that occur in the Australia today. The literary aspects in this book were near sound and I would rate this book at about…

Sookan changed in many ways through the book Year Of Impossible Goodbyes including when she learned that grandpa was tortured, when the war ended, and when mother was taken away. Sookan’s first change occurred when grandpa was dying. She took off his socks to wipe his feet and noticed that he had no toenails. "But no toenails! At first, I thought it strange, but then it occurred to me" (Choi 44). This shows how Sookan was excited to wash his feet, but when she discovered the Japanese had tortured him she became worried about him and saw him as a different person. Secondly towards the middle of the book Sookan and her family get news that the war was over and the Japanese had left. "'The war is over' he blurted out. 'The war is over! Japan has…

The book could have been aimed for teens and up. The reason I think that it is aimed for teens and up is because it uses advanced vocabulary. It was written to inform other people about plagues and viruses that occurred in history. People that would be interred in this book are people who enjoy history and people who like to learn about medical. So it can work for two different types of people history lover and health lovers. This book explains very well different diseases that have infected throughout history in details. It is good for anyone studding any diseases or epidemic in history or that is currently occurring it was pretty up to date in its information. To get its point through the author uses different text features.…

The book showed different scenarios that normal sophomores could go through and how to deal with the problem, even if it is a bad decision. Not only did it show how to deal with life situations, but the book also showed you have to fix them next time and do better. It also teaches how to maintain a friendship through a rough high school year which features a lot of drama. It shows how strong friendship can be, and no matter what happens to one another, one always needs to be there to support his/her friends and have their backs. The book was an easy read that showed one a storyline of a relatable concept that gave signs to look out for such as friends who leave a person alone in a car while they make one break the law or when the same friend forced Maddie consume a drink at a party that tastes odd. I enjoyed the book, but I felt like the foul language was unnecessary, and I also feel like they should take it out because more people need to read this book while not being cautious of it being…

This book is about Joey Pigza, a kid that always wants to help and take charge of correcting the wrong lives of people that he knows. His mom Fran and his dad Carter messed up their life, they’re always chasing each other and the result for that are his mom and her boyfriend Booth. He got this lesson after his grandmother passed out and his changes make people around Joey feel happy for him such as Mrs. Lapp his homeschooling teacher and her child, Olivia. The example is that she let Olivia go to the performance of the musical when Joey asked even that she doesn’t like it. After reading the book, I think that the theme of the book is life is short; you have to live for yourself, not for others. I like this book; it taught me that if I want to help people around me, I have to help myself first. And I rated this book 4 stars because it great but not perfect, the book didn’t have a very strong example to prove for the theme. I would introduce this book to my friend because they are young and they do not have a lot of experience in life so this book could help them to point out how their future will be.…

The novel “Looking for Alaska” written by John Green is predominately about self discovery. I found this novel was filled with overwhelming emotions that connected and allured me deeper as the novel carried on. I think the theme adolescence this novel portrays is very relevant to todays world because young teenagers are all going through a intimidating and perplexing time and this book relates to the way they feel and see the world in a way they can understand and relate to. Protagonist Miles’ is pursuing a “great perhaps.”…

    Sexism In Hannah Baker

I decided to do youth because the novel is from a point of view of a teenager and all the characters are teenagers. As many young and teenage women deal with situations that happened to the antagonist, Hannah Baker. Manny females deal with rumours, body image, sexually harassment. Not only does the novel talk about females but expresses the feelings and actions of males. In the novel, Marcus Cooley, Justin Foley, and Tyler Down, used Hannah for her body. This is related our society of sexism and misbehaving as the novel is relatable to teenagers as some do not know how their actions can affect others, like Hannah Baker. Therefore, youth is an important word to the novel because it links with society and youth and life of teenagers.…

I would recommend this book to anyone in high school. It shows that you need to think before you speak. It also shows that you never know what people are going through, until you step into their shoes. Words and actions really do hurt people more than some may think. This book talks about femme fatale in film noir and it can be used to prove the existence of the trope femme fatale in The Long Goodbye. For instance, Milda Danyte gives a very concise definition of femme fatale in the book. By quoting her statement, I was able to demonstrate the presence of a femme fatale and its significance in The Long Goodbye. Moreover, although the book is an overall analysis of Crime Fiction, there are certain parts that assisted me on my analysis on the trope of femme fatale.…
