SONA Reaction
Honeylyn L. Centeno BSBA MM 2-1D
Reaction Paper: SONA 2015
Number of Words: 297

Monday, July 27, 2015 our president Benigno Aquino III stated his SONA or State of the Nation Address for the sixth time which is considered as the longest SONA he delivered since he start his presidency. I just want to say that I like it when he delivered his speech in Filipino. Because it is our own language and not everyone understand English therefore using this language will make it understandable for all the people in our nation. But some of the President’s statement in his speech seems to be not real, a fantasy because I cannot feel it. I can’t feel that we are now developing, that our country now is rising. It doesn’t reflect the way the people here in our country live. Also, I don’t like the way he compares his year of presidency to the past president instead he should just focus on how to really improve the life of each people that he governs to. The positive side of his speech for me is that the government is really now moving to remove the corruption in their system that they are not afraid of facing their co-worker, exposing the dirty jobs of some authorities. With the actions they do about the different problems our country is facing. For doing his best in changing our nation. Sadly to say accidents are really uncontrollable, you never knew when something bad will happen even though you have done everything you could to prevent it. Just like what happen in Mamasapano where lots of people died. It’s just so good to hear that those people who died had given an honorarium. All in all to summarize my reaction I could say that President Aquino’s SONA is thumbs up for me despite of some flaws in it.

My conclusion about Obama speech is very good. It is important to keep calm and maintain your tone and speed when you are talking. The eye contact is very good, He only look briefly at the note and looking back to the audience very quickly. The speech is short and straight to the main point that he wants to thank all sacrifice that has been made by all people. He point…

Based on the past State of the Nation Address of President Aquino, critics said that, this State of the Nation Address is not clearly stating the change that they expected to be. The changes within his term is expected to be evident and must lift the Philippines from being the “Sick Man of Asia” to the “Rising Country in Asia”. But for me, I guess for about 5 years of his term, I find him and his works in making everything possible is evident through his achievements.…

The simple yet notably patriotic statement of the president earned the applause of the participants at the conference, in which hopefully the Filipinos appreciated it - regardless of their political stand about his administration. Come to think of it, it would be wonderful if the statement “I love the Philippines more” is likewise uttered – loud and proud – by every Filipino; with the ‘loving part’ put into action in perpetuum.…

The Republic of Philippines is a truly remarkable country with a culture as rich as its glorious past fraught by many foreign influences like that of the Spanish and the American. Despite of being colonized to foreign powers, the country has remained unchanged; it has not compromised with its authenticity, its decorum, code of conduct and culture and has retained its typical Filipino spirit. Rather what it has done is, it has imbibed the best of both the worlds and have shaped what we know today as the Republic of Philippines.…

On May 2010, Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Cojuangco Aquino III was sworn as the country’s 15th President before millions of Filipinos at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, vowing to deliver the nation from poverty and wiping corruption that grip the administration of his predecessor, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. During the historic event, Aquino disclosed that on top of his priorities is to tend the culture of bad governance and for him to set a good example in getting rid of corrupt practices in public administration (Mabasa, 2010). A good speech, however, does not yet make a good presidency, and Aquino’s first appointments and policy decisions were awaited eagerly. Soon after the inauguration the administration announced an executive order fleshing out the constitutional guarantee on the people’s right to information.…

Benigno inspires others with his generous spirit, idealism, spark, confidence and joie de vivre, but he can also irritate them with his self-centeredness and insistence on expressing himself freely regardless of others' needs or opinions. Moreover, Benigno Aquino, Jr. has trouble being content in the present and would benefit by learning how to consciously pacify his restlessness and achieve the capacity for tranquility and peacefulness.…

And so, it should be our motivation that we should also act and move as one if there’s another problem still yet to come.
