Somebody's Daughter Analysis

Julian Sher wrote the book Somebody’s Daughter: The Hidden Story of America’s Prostituted Children and the Battle to Save Them. In his first couple pages, the author's note mentions that, for the protection of the girls, the names have been changed. The girls’ names who have been changed are already dead, they were murdered. Instead of the terms child prostitute or prostitution, he says that prostituted child is more appropriate. Both, girls and boys, are forced into selling their bodies. The majority are girls and the number of boys is often overlooked. The reason boys often have it easier, is because they take care of themselves. Girls, on the other hand, have it harder.
