Everyone has the right to get a job, receive medical treatment, go shopping, have an education and travel freely. What we often forget is that we have a right to do these things safely without fear of being bullied, called names or assaulted.
In the United Kingdom we have lots of rights. For example everyone has the right to an education, or if you are at work you have the right to be paid money.
Sometimes it is our responsibility to help people to know what a right is and to understand what rights they have. When you are in the workplace you will be expected to reinforce and respect the rights of others, and understand that you as an employee have rights as well as your employer.
In this unit you will:

Learn about what rights and responsibilities you have
•
Find out about how to respect the rights of others
•
Look at laws that can protect you at work
•
Find out what responsibilities employers have
Does everyone have the right to work in health and social care?

We all have rights when receiving health and social care and these rights influence the way we are treated. We all have what are known as ‘human rights’. What human rights do you think we have?
