Soldier of the Month Board Ex.
SPC Ariel Esquivel was born April 29, 1991 in Houston Texas. He went to Jr. Frank Dobie High School while in school worked part time at McDonalds. After graduating he decided he wanted to do more than just flip burgers he wanted to help people, so he decided to enlist in the Army in March 2011.
SPC Esquivel went to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for Basic Combat Training on March 7, 2011 .He then attended Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma on May 22, 2011 where he graduated as a 14S Avenger Crew Member on August 3, 2011. He reported to his first duty station at Ft.Irwin California on August 13and was assigned to 1/11 ACR India Battery. He was then placed in 4th platoon as a gunner in second squad. SPC Esquivel was quickly promoted from PVT to PFC in just three months.
SPC Esquivel took second place in stinger gunnery in 2011 and received an Army Achievement Medal. He also won top gun for stinger gunnery in 2012. This earned him another Army Achievement Medal and an opportunity to fire a live stinger missile. After gunnery, he was promoted to SPC on October 1, 2012. His other awards include: Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal.
His short term goal include going Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger, and to hit SGT within the end of 2013. He also wishes to win another gunnery again in 2014 and to finish school to attain his associates’ degree. My long term goals would be to work on my bachelor degree in psychology and to become SFC so I can share my knowledge and mentor my soldiers to surpass
