Sodalite: A Short Story
Sodalite walked slowly through the stream in the forest, pumping her legs through the cold, yet somehow warm water. The current of the stream wasnt very rough, so it was (sort of) easy to trudge through the crystal clear water. Sodalite sighed, reminiscing on how she came to Earth. She wasnt from this planet, for she was actually from homeworld. She was to be shattered because she was ‘wrong’; but it wasnt even her fault. Soda was blind in her left eye due to her lazy kindergarteners. They placed her hole near a sharp, jagged rock that even the kindergarteners knew that it would compromise the gems’ growth. But they placed the injector there anyway, and now she was stuck like this. Soda cracked her fingers and looked at the position of the …show more content…
Homeworld; hiding in dark, cramped places, stealing so she could survive. Soda now just spent her days on earth chilling out, for her days of thievery and hiding had worn her out. Sodalite was awaked from her daydream because of some distant chatter. She rushed out of the water and she quickly shimmied herself up into the nearest tree, attempting to listen to the strangers in the distance. “-And thats why i always flush twice ” said a slightly masculine voice in the distance. A disgusted, high pitched voice soon followed, “remind me Steven, never let me ask you about your strange tendencies ever again.” Whats a steven? Soda thought. Is it some type of earth thing? Soda never really… studied Earth. She just learned some of it from Homeworld, like what trees are, whats a human, how a human can harm you, what the earth would look like after homeworld colonized it, etc. The voices got closer, and soda could start to see what the things in the distance were. Humans. Ugh. Soda squinted to get a better look at the humans, her visor identify who they were. Oh. Oh. They werent humans. They were like her. Gems. Sodalite wheezed and skittered up the tree more, attempting to not stir the …show more content…
She thought. What if my terrible deeds have finally caught on to me? Im gonna be shatter- Thats when the crooked branch underneath her cracked. Soda let out a whimper. “Did any of you guys hear that?” the steven asked questionably. “Probably just a bear” the tall, pinkish-red one said calmly. “A bear?!” the tall, thin one and short round purple gems shouted in unison. “What if it hurts us? What if it hurts Steven?!” the thin one shouted back. Again with the steven? Whats up with him? Is he special or something? Soda thought. The branch that soda was on started to crack more. She tried with all her might to not let it fall, she even used her powers to attempt to hold it up; but alas, her trying cut short, and she fell to the ground. Fast. “ACK!” The blue gem shouted, tumbling down the tree. Leafs fell into her mouth, and she was poked by numerous tree branches. She finally tumbled down onto the grass, face planting. Soda whispered a soft ‘“ow,” and attempted to pull herself up. The gems around her gasped with surprize. “I know this looks bad, but let me expla-” she was cut off by several weapons plunged into her face. Soda screeched. “Dont hurt me! I can explain!

The thought of cutting the branch right off its hinge out of pure revenge for the times it’s pestered me pops in my head. “Revenge,” I bellowed out deciding to take action. My eagerness for revenge propels me to grab the chopper on the countertop near the table and surge through the kitchen door. This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve attempted to bring down my arch-antagonist, the imp tree I call it. Each time I mustered up the courage to face the oversize tree the infestation of wild animals taken refuge in the backyard threatens to unleash their own attack. In my hasty attempt for revenge, I trip over a footstool near the back door catapult face first into a pile of angry bees nest near the huge tree trunk. The collusion tosses me backward the chopper flew out my hand marginally missing a squirrel and disappearing within the feral backyard. There was little time to get my bearings as a cluster of bees launch their attack each one determined to strike my face, neck, and arm. I retreated jumping to my feet while trying desperately to get the derange bees away from me. I dive back into the kitchen, slamming the door behind me, in time to notice the herd of bees’ forming in clusters on the glass door. Inside I access the damage noticing I was stung once in the neck and on my cheeks narrowly missing my…
