This was my first time and I was extremely nervous to go to the top because I am scarcely afraid of heights. I recall walking to the top and saying to my friends, ‘I do not think I can do this. It goes too high.’ They just kept telling me, ‘Just try it once. I promise it will be fun.’ So what we decided to do was start lower and go to the halfway point. Before the four foot drop, I almost flipped my raft, but I had the balance to keep myself from flipping. Then, once we all hit the drop, I was the only one who flipped. My knee did hit a rock but I did not feel it until later on towards the end of the stream. However, I did not cut my knee open, it just scraped a tad and bruised and knotted…

Running a marathon was both the hardest, yet most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. Although I knew that it would be a very long course, it lasted a lot longer than I had anticipated, and I was definitely not expecting so many stairs and hills in the run. I knew that the race would consist of 4,400 feet of climbing and descending, but until I actually started running the course, that number didn’t mean much to me. After the first three miles, I was fully aware of what 4,400 feet if climbing and descending entailed.…
