Have you heard of Sociological Imagination by C.Wright Mills? According to Mills, “it is the capacity to shift from one perspective to another…the capacity to range from the most impersonal and remote transformations to the most intimate features of the human self and to see the relations between the two of them.” The intent of the sociological imagination is to see the bigger picture within individuals live their lives; to recognize personal and pubic issues as the two aspects of a single process. The three components that form the sociological imagination are history, society standing, and relations between the two within the society. The first component of sociological imagination is the history of the society. In my society, it is different than it is now. The society focuses on the influence of social forces. The humanity that the society has would most likely carry on which plays a part. One characteristics of history making is the issues that went on in the society before that time. The second component of sociological imagination is the society standing. Usually, how your society is reflects how the people that live in it are. The structure of the society as a whole affects the behavior of the people within. If you live in a society that you live around nice houses and cars then most likely you would have a nice car. If you live in a society that there is poverty then 9 times of ten you would be poor to. The third component of sociological imagination is the relations between the history and the society standing. If you had a job and had a nice car then one day you got laid off and you couldn’t afford that car anymore and you would wonder about how others in your society thinks of you then you would become depresses about the situation. This could lead to bad behavior or suicide. This is an example of the history and the society as of now is combined

    In my own words sociological imagination to me means how individuals in their everyday daily lives look at their situation and often then become upset are conscious of their social positions. There are many people who look at there lives and see that things in there lives could be better but as of now they are not going right and they do not look like they are getting better which means there stuck in a trap.
