I wanted to bring to your attention some issues that I had about a professor in the school of social work, J. Breezer Rickey. I had her for SOWK 370 this fall. As a social worker, I feel that her sense of empathy for her students is not present in her daily interactions with students. She has made several rude comments to me (which I have attached as a PDF to this email), and those comments have made my self-esteem go down a considerable amount. A social worker should life people up, not bring them down, as is the situation here.…

As Social Workers we need to observe the toddler according to the norms of the Daycare and how the toddler conducts himself in the lobby of his Daycare. The healthier the relationship a child has, the more likely the child will be to recover from trauma and thrive. Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love (Perry & Szalavitz, 2006).The toddler in question is considered to be a part of what society considers as Hispanic lower class. The specific family member that is being critiqued is the son. The other family members that live in the same household are the mother, step-father, daughter, and son. We will discuss the toddler in the contexts of the Daycare and the theories we has discussed through-out the graduate curriculum.…

They were all able to show growth within the Human Service Profession.…

I also would love to be able to assist my clients in designing a personal social action plan. I agree there are many injustices in the world and I would like to be there as a source of support for my clients overall. I imagine that it would be quite difficult, but that I could help advocate for those who need it the most. Advocacy work seems to be a less known part of working as a counselor. In this essay I will discuss how I feel that I have developed personally and professionally as a social work student during the first level of the degree course. I will do this through examination of reflective accounts recorded during the placement learning opportunity. I believe that the use of reflection has been very significant in enhancing my personal skills and learning about my own values. I also believe that the course has instilled me with more self awareness and has given me a better understanding of how I am perceived by others. I have learned that through anti oppressive practice, social workers are able to promote inclusion by challenging discrimination and inequalities. In this essay, I will examine the methods, tools, and techniques that I have learned to date. I will conclude by discussing my particular learning needs and plan for the remainder of the course. As part of this, I will consider my learning style and the necessary methods I will utilise to bridge the learning gaps.…

I recognise this assessment is ongoing and involved weekly observations to identify progress and monitor the services. I made a record of each visit and reported any concerns to my manager (SW one, Walker 2011). I noted at times my intervention did not improve the situation as it took some time for the services to be allocated. Upon reflection, I could have been more open with N at the start about my concerns as her feedback reflected an inconsistency in my approach. Kemshall (2002) argues that social work is predominantly concerned with handling and assessing risk, as opposed to focusing on social need and justice. It should be highlighted that N may have feel structurally oppressed due to her mental health and not being appreciated for the challenges she is facing (Thompson 2007). I now recognise I may have been focusing on the immediate risk in the home and not realising the underlying cause of concern, her mental health. However, I was concerned at the potential neglect the children were facing and it was decided…

On February 26th, 2005 I walked into Mrs. Johnson's residence for our discussion of what is one of the happiest days of her life. It was an inviting house. The room smelled like vanilla and everything was very tidy like most expected mothers houses usually are. Mrs. Johnson is a long time friend so I notice the excitement in here eyes to talk to me about her new addition. She said that nobody has ever wanted to write about her feeling of her pregnancy and with two other children excited to have an adult to talk too. We sat down on her couch and she turned toward me eager to know what I was going to ask.…
