Social Work Assignment Analysis
This week’s assignment inspired me to reflect on one of my clients (an older adult) who used recreational drugs to cope with internal and external conflict for several years (about 35-40 years), and now he is having a difficult time taking prescription medications that are needed to address his chronic illnesses. A common complaint I hear is that his medication is not working and it is making him sick. At times, he thinks about going back to using recreational drugs. He has anxiety and cannot understand why he is taking so much medication. In the past, he would not advocate for himself or ask questions. During our sessions, we addressed his anxiety and now he is using his voice to advocate for his care (I see progress). This assignment helped
