Social Situation Paper
I decided to go to the Lehigh Valley Mall, which is located in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon. I went on this day because it would be the busiest on the weekend. I arrived at the mall at around 2:30pm and stayed there until around 5:00 pm. I chose to go to the mall during this time because I felt it would be most active at this time. I would also be able to observe more and see a different variety of people interact in different ways. I did not stay in a certain spot but instead walked around and was always on the move.

While most people get into disagreements, they usually do not do so in public, or stop everything they are doing just to prove themselves right; especially disrupting the mall “traffic”.
In the article, “Deviance, Sanctions, and Social Integration in SmallScale Societies,” Scott says that “deviance may be functional because it may draw people together in a common posture of anger and indignation.” (Scott 604). Institutions, Legal …”, Evan talked about the two types of cultures, material and nonmaterial. He believed that those two cultures do not change at the same right, and also that, “‘some parts are changing much more rapidly than others; and that since there is a correlation and interdependence of parts, a rapid change in one part of our culture requires readjustments through other changes in various correlated parts of culture’” (Evan 166). Meaning that nonmaterial culture, such as ideas or beliefs, do not change in correlation with the material culture, like new objects created. This shows that the elderly man I observed could have been up to date with the nonmaterial culture, but not with the material culture. The reason he decided
