Thank you for posting your letter. I agree a change in the framework of the social service system needs to happen to ensure dignified access to food. Using guaranteed personal income to address this issue is a good idea. Guaranteed personal income allows individual choices to access nutritional food, but also food that is culturally appropriate. The government needs to restructure the welfare system to ensure equal access to appropriate food for every person in Canada, removing the business of food banks that can be used to promote big business humanitarianism image. Do you think that a guaranteed basic personal income would be sufficient to cover high food costs experienced in Northern provinces?
